    where did the season turn?

So, were do you think the season turned for the worse?

    1. It was doomed from the opening kickoff
    2. It was doomed when Meyer took a knee with 1:30 left in the first half against Iowa
    3. It was doomed after the performance against UNI
    4. It was doomed after late hit penalty after ISU closed the gap against texas to 16-14 and stopped them on third and long
    5. It was doomed after the day I got married (the day we lost to Nebraska)
    6. It was doomed after losing to Kansas when we became bowl ineligible.

Personally, I vote for 2, because it seems like we haven't been able to do anything right since that good-for-nothing call. yeah, we played uninspired the first 2 games, but that's nothing new. i really feel like the season went in the toilet when we went in at halftime with our tails between our legs against iowa.

Re: where did the season turn?

Even during the early games of the year you could just feel that something was 'off'. The early victories were just way too close and too ugly. But they were still wins and we were holding onto the hope that it was just a bumpy start.
So for me, I hate to say it but it seems like it was 1 'doomed from the opening kickoff.

Yeah, remember how we were telling ourselves that Toledo was a good team that would be going bowling and probably win the MAC?
And that we would learn and grow from a game like that instead of a blowout of a cupcake.
    Oh those were the days.

I'll go out on a limb and say 2. "If" we go down the field and score (or even perhaps move the ball well) the game is totally different momentum wise and perhaps the season. Confidence does wonders for 18-22 year old males.

    A big emphasis on "If."

I loved those days. Just waiting for the offense to click. Knowing that we had 1st team big 12 skill players on offense! Just waiting to open up the playbook!! Those were the days.....

Herbicide, I totally agree. If we would have scored against Iowa, we would have had momentum instead of them. It was all downhill after that.

Re: where did the season turn?

We almost lost to Toledo and UNLV at home. This team has been no good from the beginning. Although that taking a knee with 1:30 to go still makes me wanna puke.

the only argument i have against that is we've never come out of the blocks well - see last year. we played both illinois state and army closer than we should have, and we're all arguing that should have been an 11-1 season

I say #2, the Iowa game. Once that happened, it seemed to take all the momentum out of that game, and once that was gone, the season went with it.

i agree. mac has learned to put opponents on their backs, but he never did learn to put his foot down on the opponent's neck and sqeeze the air hose.

Re: where did the season turn?

Pre season Media hype- spin and belief that skill players on ISU team were all Big 12 caliber. Schedule with all the bowl teams, yea, I and many of you got sucked in. $1.1 mil/year is not larceny, it is a felony.

1.1 mil is Grand Larceny which is a felony in most instances. Should we start a thread that Mac should be locked up? We could have wanted posters and all. No question about it.

I go with number 1. This was never a great football team, and it was severely undercoached from the get-go. The skill players are decent, but clearly benefited from a better supporting cast last year.

Re: where did the season turn?

    opening kickoff

just look at the 2003 schedule.
I bet Colorado and Missouri whip us nearly as bad as 2003

most points scored in 2006 season during regulation football 28 points against UNI

most points scored in 2003 season 21 against Texas Tech
