    South Schedule Rotation

Is it just me or does it seem the league favors the South regarding climate? I think it might give us some potential advantage to bring up a South team at the end of November.

I have yet to see a South team on our schedule after the first weekend in Nov. and there are certainly years where there can be a big temperature (and precipitation) difference in those few weeks.

We should at least make the place less hospitable in every way possible!

I believe this has been addressed by the league, and their excuse is that they want the inter-division games played later in the year, when they, apparently, are more meaningful.

In other words, why jeopardize OU/UT's chances at a national title game by making them play a frigid game at ISU or Nebraska? Actually, now that I think about it, Texas did play NU a couple years ago while it snowed in Lincoln, did they not?

What I'd rather see is a schedule rotation in regards to having us play different South teams when we switch every two years. I hate having to go from OSU/Baylor/aTm to OU/UT/Tech every two years. I wouldn't mind if they shook this up a bit each time the switch took place. Obviously, it's nice having a "break" that allows us to have "almost" years in 2004/05, but aside from poor recruiting, playing the three toughest teams in the conference in a very short amount of time in 2006 took a major toll.

Hopefully, the North continues to improve and this becomes a non-issue. I'm not nearly as tired of seeing ISU getting beat up, as I was seeing the North division getting beat up on a consistent basis. 2007 was a nice change of pace, as the entire North division gave the South teams a few scares to keep them on their toes.

This is true. ISU played Texas Tech the same day in cold, windy and wet weather. ISU got thumped that day.

    Re: South Schedule Rotation

At the end of the day weather can be a mild equalizer, but not enough to give a subpar team a distinct advantage over a national powerhouse. The very things that cause the warm climate team pain do the same thing to the home team.

    .
I agree. I wish they could think of a way to roll one team off and add another, instead of doing 3 at a time (year 1 team A goes off team D come on, year 2 team b goes off team E comes on). ISU and KU are the only 2 north schools that play OU and Texas in the same rotation I think. In the UT and OU side of the rotation you could lose 2 more games but have a better team than the previous year. It will be intersting to see how KU does this year. On the other had you can make big strides if you are on the other side of it and have a good team.

And it was a game that Tech was just trying to give away to ISU with fumbled punts and turnovers....but our guys just wouldn't take it from them.
