    Re: McCarney article on CN

I think we all know Loney was in town so maybe this is a possibility. I also heard that Bill Synder has talked to dmac about becoming the OC. Supposedly he wants to coach again. Source for that rumor was a close relative of a former player(s).
Maybe dmac is trying to gather a group of "super" assistants to come next year? Loney and Snyder as Co-offensive coordinators? Would that give hope?
Would dmac take a pay cut to make that happen?

I saw Loney, but he was here because he had a week off and was visiting his family who lives here.

I don't think it will be Loney, however I do think he is being used as a source where his thoughts and comments on the situation are taken very seriously.

Seriously? Snyder is interested in getting back in the game? I didn't like him at all at KSU, but the guy truly has a football mind. Bill Snyder as OC would be huge in my opinion.

    Re: McCarney article on CN

I love this idea, the head coach of D1 football is not really a coach anyway, they are team motivators. Hire a high quality offensive coord, and also hire an OLine coach. There is too much work there to be done by 1 person. Invest big $$ in these two people because they are the future. Sometimes you gotta spend $$ to make $$.

I would up my donation for that, and I am already donating till it hurts.

A friend told me the rumor and I thought it was hogwash at first. But the rumor is not from a family with long and deep ties to ISU so it seemed somewhat credible. I have very mixed emotions about Synder. Did a great job at KSU but bringing him in makes it look like dmac can't do the job so he brings in his daddy. (and he was ISU's daddy.....) Just seems like a last straw kind of thing. It would definetely bring some football credibility to the program.

Since he wouldn't be the head of recruiting, I don't see this happening. Besides, Iowa State is not as lax on its admissions standards as KSU is - so even if Snyder did recruit questionable players they probably wouldn't qualify and thus wouldn't be a factor.

Bill Snyder may be available, just like Tom Davis came back to Drake. He was forced out through embarrassment at KSU. Now they have a prince of a guy.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

Well, if the head coach is the team motivator, and ISU retains DM, then IMO that still leaves ISU in trouble. Is DM really a good motivator of his players? In order to motivate, there has to be substance behind what the motivator is saying. Otherwise, it just becomes a pie-in-the-sky rah-rah speech to the players and they tune it out. Players are smart. They can tell quickly whether the motivator is just pouring Kool-Aid, or whether there is actually some substance behind what is being said.
