    Beating a Dead Horse....

Ok, I know everyone wants Mac gone. We heard it the past three years. Personally, I am tired of hearing about it. Every other thread is about who our new coach should be or how terrible Mac is. Ok, I think everyone gets the idea now. Am I disappointed with this years team,? YES. Can I personally do anything about it? NO. Sure I can email Jamie Pollard and everything, but you know what, I think he has an idea of what he wants and where the program actually is. He said it on the pre-game show this weekend, people put too much into what 18,19,20 year old kids do. We need to let him make a decision for the program. If we let the fans do it, we would have a circus of coaching changes.

I think this year proved that maybe we weren't the offensive powerhouse we thought we were. The offense is something like 82nd this year and last year it was 75th or so nationally in total offense. We scored because we had a top 20 defense and we were top 5 in take aways last year. Our success was because our defense was great. We gave up 33 or so sacks last year, and we expected to have a better offensive line?!? I mean, I know that was terrible and we could only improve, but it was going to take a miracle to have a good OL. The defense did its job early on in the year to try and keep us in games. I know statistically we are one of the worst teams in the country, but when we needed them to, the shut down Texas for us to get back into the game. They did it with Oklahoma and Nebraska as well. Yes I know they gave up points and yards in the end, but what happens if we come back and take leads on these teams, or even score against Nebraska. They have confidence in the Offense. Now, all we do on offense is 3 and out or turn it over. Even our punt return specialist sucks. Its hard on a defense to force a punt, have it fumbled or have the offense turn the ball over, then turn around and go back out against a short field and try to force another punt or hold them after all the BS they have been through.

Yes, we need some sort of change. It will not come to the end of the season. I am tired of people looking for any quote or information to bash Mac or anyone else on the team. We act like they are not trying. I believe that is to the contrary or he would have been out earlier. I don't think JP would put up with that. I know we expect a better product and we should after the past two years, but life isn't always perfect or grand. I know people are going to bash me or whatever, but after hearing 3 years of this stuff, and mainly the past 6-7 weeks, it gets old. People have made their point. We will see what JP says, and then like it or not, we have to back his decision if WE ARE GOING TO HELP GET CYCLONE ATHLETICS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. It cannot all be the Athletic Dept., we need to do our job as well. Like I said, stop with the 50 different fire Mac or who our new coach should be. Mac is still here, like it or not...I'm undecided myself because Iowa State having a losing season isn't ultimately kill me. Disappointing, oooo yea, but the sun will come up tomorrow and I will go about my day. Good day to everyone. Atleast basketball officially starts on Friday!

Was I way off base with this or what? Just want some feedback. Positive or negative, doesn't matter to me.

You told everyone to stop posting threads about Mac. What kind of response do you expect with that?

    Re: Beating a Dead Horse....

No, I said I am tired of the 60 fire Mac threads. I have no problem with the discussion of not having him around, but when you have 60 different threads covering the same subject it gets old. I am tired of people ruthlessly bashing the coaching staff. The Barney Cotton thread from yesterday was a perfect case. It showed a quote from Cotton, but only showed part of it to make him look bad. I was wondering if I was off base on my post, if it was just me and if it was then I would keep my mouth shut and not worry about it.

The whole thing is getting VERY old. Once the season is over and we find out what JP intends to do, I think we, as a fan base, can move forward. I just hope that the fan base can unite and support whatever decision JP makes.

    Re: Beating a Dead Horse....

Personally, I'm tired of discussing whether dmac should go or stay. Enough has happened for most people to make a decision on what their stance is and right now it doens't matter what we think. The only person who matters is very tight lipped right now. I can't believe how good a job JP does keeping things quiet. I keep waiting for Jeremy to post something on what is going on behind the scenes.......

    Re: Beating a Dead Horse....

Beating a dead horse is talking about how many bowl games ISU has gone to, how bad the team was after Walden was fired, talking about coaching better or harder, "XYZ team is really solid, and much better than their record", "we beat Iowa X # of times"...................Mac can beat a dead horse better than anyone.

Right now the ISU FB program is a dead horse and there are a lot of fans out there trying to rationalize why it is and how it got to this point. I would love to be talking about something positive about ISU FB. After last saturday the only positive thing I can say is the field looks like it is in great shape.

Try to remember that people posting their opinions on internet boards never really changes anything. I am a powerless peons in all these matters, and I know it. For most Clone fans this is simply badly needed therapy.

That being said, I promise not to saying anything bad about Mac until after the CU game.

I am going out on a limb and say I expect an announcement up or down will be made by Monday before the Missouri game. it makes too much sense. We will probably lose at Colorado where we do not play well and Missouri game will be meaningless at that point. This is big business.

    CG
You analysis is spot on; few people seem to remember how the offense struggled last year.
