    KSU squeaks one out

K-State beat D-II Washburn in 3OTs last night and it sounds like they were pretty fortunate to do that. KU beat the same team by 30 two days earlier. I watched that game and KU looked really, really good. Freshman Darrell Arthur was amazing.

Huggy sounded pretty down after the game but they should be a different animal when they get Bill Walker for 2nd semester. Their 7'3" guy didn't play and Huggy said he needs to "work harder."

Anyway, not exactly the most exciting stuff but I'm just ready for basketball. Can you tell?

Why didn't the 7'3" guy play?

7'3" guy for KSU? Oh my. That's pretty impressive. If he can move and shoot at all, he'd be a monster.

He's supposed to be a stud out of Florida, top 50 type guy. Jason Bennett is his name. The only reason given in the article was Huggins said he needed to work harder.

About a foot of his height is his neck, based on a picture I saw some time back.

    Re: KSU squeaks one out

Bennett's been on the radar since 8th grade. His real strength is shot blocking, but intensity, passion, and scoring are weaknesses. Bennett has tons of potential so it will be interesting to see if he pans out at KSU.

    Re: KSU squeaks one out

KSU is going to be a scary team in the near future. A couple of KSU fans got to talking basketball with me after the game last weekend, and they're REALLY pumped about where their Bball team is going. Scout had Bennett ranked as the #10 center in this year's class.

    Next year's class?

    Commits:

Michael Beasley, #1 ranked Power Forward
Bill Walker, #2 ranked Small Forward
Dominique Sutton, #11 ranked Small Forward
Jacob Pullen, #28 ranked Shooting Guard

They're also drawing interest from O.J. Mayo, the #1 ranked Point Guard and Tyrel Reed, the #10 ranked Point Guard.

Even if they don't land either one of the PG's, I'd say that's a hell of a recruiting class.

Why do all these guys want to play for KSU, no I mean what does Huggins offer to be able to land such top rated recruits?

Who knows. Huggins has always landed huge recruits.

Oh, and I forgot. Two days ago Bill Walker won an appeal to the NCAA to join the team this year, he completed his entrance requirements a year early. He's able to play for the team starting on the 17th. O.J. Mayo was a classmate of Walker's from high school.

From what I'm reading, on July 5th ESPN reported that Mayo did verbally agree to play for USC, but on the 8th a T.V. station reported that Mayo is considering three schools, USC, Florida, and Kansas State. Rivals.com has an article from two days ago that says Mayo is still uncommitted.
