    Re: Indiana offers Barnes

Crean is a punk! But he is a damn good coach! One of those guys you don't like but respect his game. Anyway, Barnes is going to get a lot of enticing offers...this could be a painful watch unless Barnes comes out and says "I am attending Iowa State" soon...but I don't expect him to do that in the near future. I wish though...

Indiana would be the least of my concerns. When NC, Duke, Kansas, and other big boys come calling, that worries me more.

Indiana could be appealing to many high school kids from Iowa. I sweat Indiana more than UNC or Duke. Harrison's family could attend many games if he played at Indiana as opposed to the mid-Atlantic region.

As Johnny Orr said concerning Hoiberg, "it was either get Freddie or get fired, coach," GMac has to get Barnes.

Then get ready to be worried, he will have more offers than any Iowa athlete since Jerry Moses

NC, and Duke have been calling. He will be here if they don't offer this summer, but if they do, he's likely gone.

    Re: Indiana offers Barnes

I am not letting myself think ISU has a chance at Barnes. That way when he picks another school (which in MY opinion he will do) it won't hurt so bad.

I'm sure that Harrison will get offers from anywhere he wants. He's already a top 15 or top 10 talent, so I'm sure he'll get calls from everyone. If he even gives them a whiff of interest, he'll probably get an offer.

I really hate to say it but I completely agree with you. As long as he doesn't end up in the Big XII (Kansas) and we don't play him, it won't hurt as bad in my mind as compared to going to UNC or Duke.

    Re: Indiana offers Barnes

It's not if the big dogs offer, it's when they offer. Barnes' academics are going to be a huge issue in his decision. He's a 4.0 student and a degree from Duke is going to be better than ISU. Barnes can go to any school in the country.

Barnes, in today's Ames Tribune, concerning his coach Jake Sullivan:

"Jake offers a lot of insight because he was once recruited as well but he's not trying to push me one way or another. He's just open and honest. He'll tell me which systems he thinks will benefit me most and just gives the best unbiased advice he can."

He also said that he is looking for a school strong in his future major, business, and "possibly a champion-level basketball team."

Iowa State is far from a business school. I'm in the business college but know fully well that is not the best business school in the state (UNI).

    Re: Indiana offers Barnes

This should come as no surprise as Crean offered him when he was at Marquette. As I have already said, Iowa State is not Barnes' favorite at this point but I hope that changes.
