    Why wait?

Why shouldn't JP pull the plug now and get us into the mix for candidates like Jim Harbaugh or Gene Chizik (sp?)? I was with everyone who said that it couldn't be done in the middle of the season since there were still games left to be played and a chance to make a bowl game. Now that the bowl game possibility is shot, is there ANY reason to wait?

    Re: Why wait?

The thing I worry about if you get a guy like Chizik or Harbaugh is that if they turn the program around, they are going to bolt for warmer weather and then we will have to look for a new coach again. Urban Meyer at Utah was a prime example. I bet Pollard goes after an assistant coach at a school up north or maybe the head coach at north dakota state.

    Re: Why wait?

I can honestly not think of a good reason why we should wait.

    That's sad.

    Re: Why wait?

That argument about not wanting a young high flying coach because he will just leave is BS. If Harbaugh comes in and leads Iowa State to 11 wins and a BCS bowl and then leaves, I will have one HELLUVA time, thank him, and then start rooting for the next guy.

How many people will show up to see Dan's last game against Missouri? If an announcement is made before the game, I could see 50K coming to the game to cheer and thank Dan for what he has done. Or it could be 25K booing him on his way out.

I sure hope no matter what happens... Everyone, & I mean everyone gives coach Mac a HUGE standing ovation when he trots off the field for what looks inevidibly as the last time as our head coach.

ever think if they fire mac now (but waits till the end of the season) he burns arnaud's redshirt? that'd be the big reason not to announce anything till after our loss to missouri.

how bout bringing in vince mcmahon to do the firing? his firings are always great... YOU'RE FIRED!!!

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I Completely Agree. The best thing that can happen now (if a change is made), is that the new coach is a huge success and if he moves on, so be it.

The most important thing now is to keep building the football program, that includes the facilities upgrades (which should be ongoing, probably forever), continue to build a better recruiting base, and the most important is "FAN Support" which includes Fans and Donors, must keep the money flowing into the football program!

    Re: Why wait?

My gut hunch is that Mac and the team already know.

Along the same lines, after leaving the game early yesterday and having suffered enough Cyclone misery, I decided to see what the other half was griping about after being schooled by the mighty NW Wildcats.

I almost had to pull off the road when Mr. "one quick comment" Tommy from Des Moines announced that our next coach will be..........................................Bill Snyder. He said that Pollard and Snyder have already met, and it is "almost a done deal"

I think his source is Mabel at the local Dahl's
