    Lakers vs. Spurs

What do you think of the No Call at the end of the game? Let the guys play it out on the court or should there have been a foul call?

I like that they let them play it out. As well I want to know why the 6'7 Berry pump faked the 5'10 Derek Fisher, shoot the ball.

    Re: Lakers vs. Spurs

Barry shyed away from contact and didn't try to sell it. In that situation, unless it is clear (which Barry didn't make it), I like that there was no foul called. It didn't impede anything so I say at that point, let the players decide.

    Re: Lakers vs. Spurs

I'm a little biased, but I like that there wasn't a foul called. I think it all evens out anyway. Kobe has 29 FG attempts and doesn't make it to the free throw line once? Yeah right. And Fisher's shot at the other end of the court before the last play of the game hit the rim, then hit Horry's leg and went out of bounds. The Lakers should have had the ball with a new shot clock, which would have forced the Spurs to foul. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Like I said, it all evens out in the end anyway IMO.

    Re: Lakers vs. Spurs

I'll preface my statement with "NBA basketball is a joke". Now, on with the show.

Was it a foul? Yes. Will it ever get called? No. Should it be called? Yes.

He obviously contacted him while he was in the air, stopped him from being able to take a shot. Berry should've sold it better, but none the less.

I'm so sick of the "we can't call fouls at the end of the game." crap. A foul is a foul is a foul. Shouldn't matter if there's 10 minutes or 10 seconds left.

    Re: Lakers vs. Spurs

It should have been a foul but, as somebody already mentioned, the refs blew so many calls it isn't funny. Anybody else see Duncan catch the ball above the free throw line and take 3-4 steps on his way to the basket without being called for travelling.

I guess, maybe, you can say it all evens out but it sure would be nice to find people that can keep up with the speed of the game. It's not like these refs are making minimum wage.

    Re: Lakers vs. Spurs

It was a foul and should have been called.....but "justice" was served. The only reason that the Spurs were in that game was b/c the refs continually jobbed the Lakers. How does Kobe Bryant not shoot one free throw? How can they not tell that Fisher's ball hit the rim? Not call Duncan for his multiple travels?

The worst no calls in Basketball History:
    1. Jordan vs Utah.
    2. Princeton vs Georgetown.

How about this? "NBA officiating is a joke"

Call the ALL the travels LeBron, Tim Duncan, Kobe, whoever, call all the shooting fouls (no matter which team is fouled, no matter home or visitor) call the "carrying the ball" turnover. These guys carry the ball with each dribble. And PLEASE call the offensive foul when the player clears out the defender with the off arm (See Chris Paul).

Yes Barry was fouled, he should have received 2 shots, he should not have needed to 'sell it'. If the Spurs would have rebounded worth a crap, they would not have been in the situation to need the foul at the end.

This has been an EXTREMELY frustrating year for me as a Spurs fan. They went through terrible offensive droughts and it seemed like one of the big 3 were always injured. Time for the Spurs to get younger and maybe stay healthier. I'm really looking forward to next year with Mahinmi and hopefully Splitter in the lineup. It's time for Horry and Finley to hang up the sneakers. They can dump Stoudemire as well. Maybe Vaughan too.

Barry wasn't in the air when Fisher contacted him. Barry had pulled his shot back and was dribbling when the contact occured. Strictly speaking, Fisher may have fouled him. In the context of that game, dribble contact went on all night long, and was not getting called earlier in the game, so it would be inconsistent to call it at the end.

I agree with you that it shouldn't matter whether there are 10 minutes or 10 seconds left. I believe the reason that no foul was called is because the contact took place when Barry was dribbling. Dribble contact happens all the time without a foul being called.

If Barry had actually shot the ball instead of pulled his shot back, he likely would have been at the FT line shooting for the win. Not sure why he tried to pump fake a shorter player...

The NBA is not a joke. It was more of a joke when Jordan played than it is now. Teams are better, and players are better. MJ really played during a down time in the NBA. There weren't any other Magics, Birds, Thomas when he was winning all his titles. They were long gone. Now the NBA has several stars and much better supporting players.

NBA officiating is and has always been a joke. They call traveling a little more than they use to but they still get away with an extra step a lot.

Yeah it was a joke cause its not like there were any karl malones, john stockton,Charles barkley, david Robinson, shaq, shawn kemp, reggie miller. Just to name a few. And larry bird, clyde drexler, patrick Ewing and magic johnson played with Jordan on the 92 dream team. LOL. That's funny how u think the NBA sucked back then. The NBA sucks now. Theres very few great players right now
