Tony Yelk is in camp at Edmonton as a possible replacement for Sean Fleming, eleven year veteran kicker out of Wyoming. Edmonton traded for a punter from Calgary - Duncan O'Mahoney this month but Yelk remains in camp. Yelk is a veteran punter / kicker / kickoff specialist from ISU with experience in 2 NFL camps (Atlanta 2006, Jacksonville 2007) and may have a shot. Rosters will be pared down as Edmonton approaches its pre-season games on June 13 against Calgary and June 19 against Saskatchewan. Yelk, when healthy, can boom kickoffs and punts and is reliable at field goals.

As an import, Yelk realistically can only get a job if he can get all 3 jobs - Kicker, Kickoff, and Punter. He has experience in all three, obviously, and he's healthy now. One day he is a longshot - the next day he is a favorite.

I'd love to see another Cyclone wear the green and gold of Edmonton, but who knows?

Good luck Tony!
