    Top 40 Class ...

Van Coleman has ranked ISU as the 36th best recruiting class this year. He did throw in that if we include Lucca into this class then it would be a top 25 class.

Cool! I hope they play like a top 5 class! (Note: not being a smart ***) I am surprised we are a top 50 class but I don't know much and I hope in 2 years we still have them!

Thats great but I said a while ago that I will never listen to anything this clown has to say, so I can't get to excited.

Plus we have 7 guys coming in which will always help our rankings

Yeah; especially if they can stick around, not transfer, and still here to play like a top 5 in the 4th year.

I felt good about this till I noticed he had ranked Iowa's recruits one notch above us. Kinda blew his credibility away.

According to Scout, Iowa's recruits look better than ISU when you compare star ratings. ISU has a bunch of 2 star players with a couple 3 star players coming in while Iowa has more 3 star players and a 4 star. Makes sense to me that Iowa's class is ranked 1 spot above us.

I think a problem a lot of us ISU fans have is we over-emphasize the quality of our recruits every year. If we get a 4-star guy, he is hyped up so much before he even plays his first game, that even the DMR starts talking about him going pro after just one season (Taggart). Others are hyped up to be instant Fizer quality players (Brackins) who really could have benefitted quite a bit with a year of learning insted of being forced to start because of a lack of true depth. This year we have Lucca Staiger who is so highly hyped that fans will be dissappointed as soon as he misses a 3 point shot because we all expect him to never miss. We also have Buckley who many expect to start over Garrett at some point in the season or at least get a good chunk of minutes from him. In reality, both are 3 star recruits, but Garrett has 1 year of experience over the new freshman. In a very inexperienced team, 1 year is an upperclassman.

We have a bunch of 2 star guys and a couple 3 star guys coming in this year. It is not a stellar class. McDermott did a respectible job recruiting, but not stellar.

Who says Lucca will mist a shot? Maybe he's like a video game come to life? OK, probably he'll miss a shot.

GMac is doing OK on the recruiting trail. Not great, but OK. BUT, if he can't keep the recruits around more than a year or two, what good does it do? He's got to get a hold on the attrition and start graduating players. His system is not very effective when it's run by a bunch of freshmen every year.

While scout has us with 2 and 3 star players and Iowa with more 3 star and even a 4 star guy....Rivals has ISU with all 3 star players and Iowa with all 3 stars except one 2 star guy. So, it seems to be a toss up comparing the classes. Hopefully our coach does a better job developing them than Iowa's coach. Then, the preranking don't matter.
