Anyone know of any good deals on all or any of these items in Cedar Rapids?

I'm about ready to start looking as well. Paying $120 a month for Mediacom with a DVR and Internet just seems too much. I haven't checked with the Dish places yet, but I've gotta think I can get my cable for cheaper than that.

Re: Internet / TV / Phone

Mediacom was offering a VIP deal. That is Voice, Internet and Phone for a 1 year low rate. After that though, they put the screws to you. I was about to do it but they wouldn't let me unlist my number without paying a $3 fee PER MONTH. So, I just went and got Vonage instead on top of my mediacom cable and internet. Vonage is $25 a month flat fee. Works great.

Re: Internet / TV / Phone

If you are not a mediacom customer now, you can get a pretty good deal for anywhere from 6 months to a year. Although for that year I would suggest stocking up on as much vaseline(or your lube of choice) because when your promotional time period is up you will need it for what they will charge you while taking away services while stinking the joint up something terrible with their crappy customer service.

Ya, I'm talking from experience. Stay away from that company.

I have mediacom in Hiawatha right now, but in the next couple months I am moving out to Marion so I will get the discounted rates again.

I pay $125 a month currently for internet and digital cable with starz and the sports pak.

While I know the discounted rates mediacom offers are alot cheaper then their normal prices, doesn't dish and direct TV do the same thing? Where you pay a discounted rate for the first 12 months then go up to full price as well?

I am sure I will never ever switch to cable ever again.

If you can get Direct or Dish bundled with DSL and LD >>> TAKE IT.

    -keep.

Re: Internet / TV / Phone

If I can get something from qwest that is faster then 1.5mbit download speeds at my new place I may look into it, but another side thing is that mediacom supports the cyclones, while dish and direct do not.

Mediacom has games that can only be seen on their channels.

I know this has been hashed and re-hashed again but what does everyone pay with dish-direct/dsl/landline AFTER the promo is over.

I watch channels with sports on them and the major networks...I dont need 400 channels...but to me it doesnt seem like dish-direct is all that great of deal with HD/DVR when when you have to get landlines&dsl.

Please someone inform me with numbers and $$$

Re: Internet / TV / Phone

The bundles seem like a good deal, and they are indeed cheaper than full price. So far, however, to me it seems if you shop for the best deals individually on these items you can end up paying less than you would with a bundle.

I switched to Dish and I got a good price for a year and then it goes up $10/month instead of more then doubling. Then after a couple months another price hike followed by this channel and this channel being removed and when I called to complain they had meatheads for customer service people that topped it off. Dish might not be the best but Dish on a bad day is better then the last 8 months I was on Mediacom.

$35 / month for the TV package that goes up to $45 when promotion is over. They have the same channels as mediacom have except for some of the local ISU local sports which is the only thing that sucks about Dish and DirectTV.
