    Fishermen

I just went out this morning - caught 83 fish. Bunch of small bluegill, about 2 dozen nice bluegill, a dozen crappie, and half a dozen 2 pound bass.

    Fun day

    Anybody else fish?

What'd you do, drain the lake, and scrape them off the bottom?

Might as well have - they were spawning. I actually drove down and went with my dad.... he hasn't been out fishing in a while, so I thought I'd show him how it was done.

You know, bluegill during spawning season are pretty gross. If you've ever squeezed one, you'd know why.

Not to diminish your feat, SH, but bluegill are some of the dumbest fish around.

When I was a kid, I used to go down to the dock with fishing line around my finger, a hook, and a hunk of tinfoil. I could catch bluegill for hours with that setup, one after the other.

But they're fun. And in 3 hours, 83 ain't bad.

That's why we went after bass and crappie.

Absolutely! I was never much into the "sit and wait for hours" type of fishing. Bluegill are fun to fish. I just marvel at their stupidity.

Something fishy about this whole thing!

Maybe somebody got to the bluegill, and influenced their decision-making. That is a lot of sudden decisions for them fishies.

I think I grasp your metaphor...and yes, I believe Wesley, much like the dim bluegill, went for something shiny dangled from a hook.

"Why is there a bite in it?"
"Why was it wrapped in foil?"
"It was never wrapped in foil!"

Shiny things are fun to swim for, but not all they're cracked up to be.

    Re: Fishermen

Bluegill are rather dumb. I can catch one, throw it back in, and then watch it go after the same worm.

Now, if you catch the same fish more than once, does it count as catching more than one fish?

I assume we're making up the rules, so I'd say, yeah, count it every time!

Wilt Chamberlin thought so as well.

    Re: Fishermen

I wanted to fly fish this weekend, however, due to the runoff and all of the people camping, I am sitting this weekend out...think I will check my gear though...
