Do you Believe Ryan Leaf is biggest bust of all Time

I was listening to the Dan Patrick show and Ryan Leaf was being interviewed. He acknowledged that he will always be compared to Peyton Manning because they went 1 and 2 in the draft. Many consider him the biggest bust of all time. My question would he be considered the biggest bust of all time if he wasnt drafted behind peyton manning. Personally I think Davind Carr is a bigger bust at #1, then there is #3 Akili Smith, #3 Joey Harrington and so on.

By the way he talked about finding a Indiapolis Colts Jersey with Leaf's name on the back (before they went to all teams using the jersey with #1 on it and no name) in some of his boxes and saying he would sign it and wanted to auction it off to charity.

Tony Mandarich. #2 overall pick of the 1989 NFL Draft (Green Bay). Played for GB from 89-91, then had a five-year absence before hooking up with Indianapolis from 96-98.

Todd Marinovich. 24th pick of the 1991 Draft (Raiders). Played a grand total of EIGHT games. Threw 8 TD and 9 INT.

I don't think I would put David Carr as the biggest bust. I want to give him a couple years with a new team. He didn't have crap for a line in Houston and that doesn't fair well for a quarterback. I would have to say it would be a toss up between Akili Smith and Ryan Leaf.

I'm not just saying it because he was a Hawk, but Robert Gallery hasn't done much but his best impression of a revolving door. However, Gallery is still at least playing after several years....can't remember how long Leaf was able to pretend to be a pro QB.

Ki-Jana Carter, wasn't he a #1? I think he only played a few pre season games.

I also forgot about Tim Biankabutuka from Michigan. He wasn't a number 1 but he was drafted and supposed to be pretty good.

Ki Jana Carter blew out his knee, so I wouldn't count him. As far as David Carr goes, he has been less than stellar, but not Ryan Leaf bad, and also I think Tim Couch is very comparable career-wise to Carr.

Eric Crouch? I'm not saying it because he was a Husker but he was quite possibly one of the worst NFL QBs ever, you just never actually saw him on the field.

I dont think anyone actually even gave him a chance at QB because they already knew. So he whined like a baby and left, twice I think.

Re: Do you Believe Ryan Leaf is biggest bust of all Time

Do injuires count as busting? Ki-Jana Carter and Steve Etman were huge "injury busts"

David Carr had a couple decent years before getting sacked 50+ times a year made him so gun-shy ... his stats weren't that bad for such a crappy team & they knocked off Indy once in a while.

Alex Smith had a horrible year last year and was shakey in his rookie year before that - he'd better improve or the 9'ers will suck again.
