    So what's next from here?

The whole WJ situation absolutely sucks, of that there is no doubt.

But does anyone else feel like it's been kind of anti-climatic to this point? We heard what WJ had to say about why he wants to transfer, and it doesn't match up with the established facts. We've heard and seen rumors going around about tampering, but for right now they are just rumors.

WJ doesn't have a new school yet, so I think until he makes his intentions known, it's hard to know much more about the situation than we know now.

Is there any way possible that WJ could change his mind and end up staying with us? I know that is highly unlikely, but he hasn't been released from his scholarship yet (a correct decision, in my mind). Have the bridges been napalmed too much between the Johnsons and ISU? I hope not, but unfortunately as a Cyclone fan you pretty much need to expect the worst.

The scenario of Johnson rejoing the squad was discussed in another thread. I personally would not be disappointed in this occurred so long as the decision was up to his teammates.

"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

It could happen since he will get just as much exposure if he gets his jumping form back in the Big 12. The Big 12 can be as good as the SEC in the future. Really, he chose a tough road to hoe if he is headed to Kentucky. Remember KY jelly went Hillary in a landslide and Barrack accepted the unofficial nomination in Iowa when he gained enough delegates.

If the players and coaches wanted Wesley back I would be all for it. I think he would get a "Lucca" like reaction from the fans.

I would tend to doubt it at this point
But I'd rather expect the worst, that way I can't be disappointed

Re: So what's next from here?

Wouldn't it be the best for both parties if Wes did come back?

    - No loss of talent by the team
    - No NCAA investigations
    - No transfer waiting
    - Quicker route to NBA

Re: So what's next from here?

If I were GMac (or any other coach or any of the players) I'd probably have a hard time trusting WJ after this whole debacle. Especially after he claimed to have a poor relationship with GMac and then, say he wants to come back and play for the same coach?

No thanks. I appreciate what he gave us the last two years, and I'll wish the best for him (even more so if it turns out he's being pulled in every direction by outsiders), but HE ultimately said he had a poor relationship and out of the blue turned his back on the Cyclones.

Re: So what's next from here?

Yesterday morning, Cotler asked McDermott whether WJ would be allowed to return to the team. While McDermott didn't absolutely rule it out, he said it was not realistic at this point.

From what I've gathered from the press conference, interviews, and everything else surrounding the situation, I sense that GMAC believe Wesley is getting bad advice from the people around him. If Wesley and Coach met and discussed the whole situation face to face and Wesley acknowledged that he mistakenly followed the wrong advice, it would change things. This meeting is very unlikely, which is probably why GMAC thinks WJ coming back is unlikely.
