    Paint Question

My wife has chosen some Behr Premium Plus eggshell enamel paint. Any idea how long it takes this stuff to dry?

    Re: Paint Question

With it being humid outside, probably a couple of hours, not too long...

    Re: Paint Question

Depends on temp and humidity. I'm pretty sure enamels take longer. What did she paint???

it will also depend on what type of surface you are painting.

    Dry Time
    • Dries to touch in two hours at 77°F (25°C) and 50% humidity, re-coat in four hours. Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity.
    • After two weeks, cured paint film may be cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent.
    • Dry paint film is mildew resistant.

It is not what she painted, its what he gets to paint!

Sorry, I know it is not nice to laugh at somebody who has to spend time on a weekend painting.

    Re: Paint Question

We use that stuff all the time. By the time I can finish, drink a beer and relax for a few min, I can start again at the first point.

Or just turn the air on, and it dries even faster.

    Re: Paint Question

Has she already purchased it? If not, I'd recommend shying away from Behr. Regardless of the consumer reports ratings, there are much better paints for your money.

Its not purchased yet, which gives me hope that she'll change her mind. Everything else has been bought, just not the paint.
What other suggestions do you have?

Ben Moore if you can spend a little more, but personally I've even had better luck with the Glidden from Home Depot.

Ask Sherwin Williams. Seriously though, I've had good luck with Diamond Vogel and I think it's made in Iowa.

Sherwin Williams is another good recommendation, just based on their service alone. A co-worker of mine purchased his house paint there, and when he went back for more they messed up the tinting. After it had dried, when he backed away he noticed that half his house was a different color. To make it right, they sent a professional out to repaint the entire house.

    Re: Paint Question

I'll check out the Glidden stuff. We were going to Home Depot anyway. I assume they can match a Behr color?

    Re: Paint Question

Yeah, I've never understood the good reports Behr paints get. I've found they never cover very well, are quite pricey and I have experienced numerous problems with bubbling and peeling. And I have done a lot of painting so, I do know how to prepare a wall, it's was definitely the paint, not the surface. Of most of the major brands that big boxes carry, I've found Behr to usually be my last choice. I also have had good luck with Glidden. Most recently I bought some Olympic to cover a a small portion of wall. To be honest, I was really impressed with how it worked.
