    Corporate Fitness Centers

So up here at Medtronic they have a couple fitness centers around the different "campuses" as they call them. Different clusters of buildings housing the different departments. It's only $16 a month to use these centers, and you automatically get access to personal trainers/exercise scientists/dieticians at no extra charge.

Just curious if this is a fairly normal practice? I know that's a ridiculous deal and will definitely take advantage of it. I'm gonna go in and setup a training program with one of the PTs for the Cy-Man this fall.

That, and there is this elusive massage program everyone keeps telling me about I'll need to go see about

    Re: Corporate Fitness Centers

We have one where I work but consulants aren't allowed to use it...only full time employees.

But on the bright side it's a great excuse to stay chunky. "Well I would lose weight but...."

The place where I intern, HNI Corporation, doesn't have it's own facility, but they do subsidize YMCA memberships.

Our company pays $25 of our membership to whatever health club we join, plus they pay us $1 per hour to workout.

    Re: Corporate Fitness Centers

We have two full-service fitness centers, including running tracks, state-of-the-art weight training equipment, 50 or so treadmills/ellipticals/bicycles, and aquatic centers (lap pools, fun pools, waterslide, sauna, hot tub).

I think I'm getting the hang of my new role in employee recruiting

    Re: Corporate Fitness Centers

At Principal we have a couple of facilities that would rival most fitness centers. I believe they are open to spouses as well but not sure.

    Re: Corporate Fitness Centers

At my "work" we have a couple gyms. Plus some amazing mountain trails that make for very interesting running. Because it is a military training center, everyone is highly encouraged to work out.

But the coolest thing about it is the continual stream of world-class athlete level guys coming through, who are various nations' special forces. I've learned a bunch about fitness since I've been here.

Very cool, sounds like you landed a good internship. I suppose things aren't all hunky dory though with the announced layoffs, although I don't know any of the details. I'm over at BSC CRM, I like it, but it's been a rough couple of years for the entire industry.

    Re: Corporate Fitness Centers

As for our corporate fitness center my boss opens the door, shows me the sidewalk and tells me to start walking.

Actually me boss is very cool about letting me go for a couple of hours each afternoon to work out. I had congestive heart failure over two years ago and he knows it's important for me to exercise. Besides he would have to hire a new employee...
