Indication Greg feels tampering took place with WJ?

A great find by cyclone_fan_1000, who posted this link in a separate thread.

There was talk about ways to remove AAU coaches, agents, and other influences from the game in response to the O.J. Mayo situation at USC. Iowa State coach Greg McDermott was especially vocal about the subject after losing star player Wesley Johnson this week. It’s suspected that Johnson’s former AAU coach prompted Johnson’s decision to transfer by promising Johnson greener pastures elsewhere.

It also sparked talk of of making college players stay two or three years before being eligible for the NBA Draft. Actually, Mizzou coach Mike Anderson said he wouldn’t mind if college basketball adopted the same rules as college baseball. Players could be drafted out of high school, but if they choose to go to college, they’d have to stay for at least three years before being eligible for the draft again.

This topic just got more interesting...as if it wasn't interesting before this little tidbit

Because his name can be said by anyone!”

Who is Wesley's former AAU coach? Any name we'd recognize?

Re: Indication Greg feels tampering took place with WJ?

I think it's something that was in the back of nearly everyone's minds. Now, there's just something in print referring to it.

We just don't know what exactly Greg said and then how it was translated to what we're reading here.

Re: Indication Greg feels tampering took place with WJ?

Kentucky probably just caught wind of the "dirty activity" before everybody else.
Whether or not the "dirty activity" gets released, depends on how far they take this...

As fans how far do you guys think we should take this?

Don't know his name but, I bet he has some ties to the Alabama and Kentucky programs.

Re: Indication Greg feels tampering took place with WJ?

So when he said that WJ may have left because he was convinced of greener pastures elsewhere, is that supposed to suggest that it will be easier for him to get drafted at a different school? Because if he thinks that he is an idiot. NBA teams could care less what school you went to. All of their judgements come from the camps and workouts after the season is over. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this but I am starting to think WJ is a baby who will believe anything someone tells him. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Meaning what exactly? That's the reason Wes is not already a "done deal" with Kentucky?

Legally what can we do? Such as, is it legal in this case to stab someone with a trident?

This is a touchy thing that could affect recruiting in the future couldn't it? Needs be thought through thats for sure. On one hand you don't want to give the impression your players are easy marks for these people, on the other hand...does it come off looking like sour grapes and putting 'unwanted attention' on your program?
