    Impact of Wesley Johnson transfer

I know by him leaving is a big setback, my question is with Wes gone will anyone else transfer(ie Brackins) and how long will this set us back? I was just thinking, when it rains it pours!

    2008-09 Impact - We're screwed.
Long term Impact - How many losing seasons does McD pile up? Three in a row is looking pretty dang likely.

Re: Impact of Wesley Johnson transfer

If no one else transfers, I don't think it will be quite as bad as it seems like it will be. We don't have as many holes as we did going into this season.

Our PG play will improve. Garrett and Petersen already were playing better and Buckley will give some depth. 3-point shooting should be better. Haluska really came on late in the season. Hopefully Steiger and Eikmeier can come in and know some shots down. Brackins has gained 15 pounds already, so he should be improved. Thompson, Mann and the JC can hopefully fill the other post spot.

This is assuming no more player leave

Will anybody else transfer: I would bet my credits on yes. History has shown this is what will happen.

How long will this set us back: 1 season at least, likely longer due to the ripple effect on recruiting and so forth.

There is no silver lining at all, this will hurt real bad, and not only on the wins/losses side of things.

Long term, can McD keep players here? He has had more people leave than Wayne did...

If Brackins transfered, we might as well be at Year 1 of the McDermott era. I, along with about every other Cyclone fan, will not be happy.

Re: Impact of Wesley Johnson transfer

Last year with Mike Taylor we probably go to the NIT.
This year with the new guys, Lucca and Wes healthy = NCAA Bubble team

Lets hope we don't lose anyone else.

Re: Impact of Wesley Johnson transfer

FWIW, I heard rumors of Brackins transferring (along with Wes, Cory, Boozer and Lee), but I've now heard Craig is here to stay. No word on the last two yet, but I assume they'll be here for at least next season as well.

Re: Impact of Wesley Johnson transfer

Another impact of Wes's transfer is that suddenly Cory Johnson's transfer hurts us alot more.

    Here is an analogy:
If Brackins leaves....Then GMAC would be like a Drywaller with just a screwdriver for tools. Going to be a long....long....job with lots of damage.
