I feel sorry for the Seniors...

...whose final season in Cardinal and gold was ruined by turmoil. Great players like Brent Curvey, Scott Stephenson, Jon Davis, Deandre Jackson. And above all, I feel sorry for Austin Flynn. He has given so much to this team in terms of leadership and ability. He could be the stating quarterback on a D-1AA team with lots of success and the posibility of a championship. But instead he stayed loyal to his coaches, teammates, and us fans. Coming in with such high expectations for his senior season and a shot at the north title...just to end with 6 wins--MAXIMUM. And all Jackson and Davis have to show for it is hospital bills.

If I were a senior on this football team I would be very disappointed in the coaching staff. And if I were on the coaching staff I would feel obligated to go out and try whatever it takes to win the rest of these games. The coaching staff isnt able to win us the north, but they can sure as hell put these guys in a position to go out with some dignity and pride. Lets hope that happens.

Well said, I also feel very bad for the players, from the seniors to the walk-ons.

I think the fans should feel obligated to support these guys also. We are not having a good year but these guys are putting it out there every week and they need support. So hopefully fans will still show up for the last two home games even if they don't like the coach.

Re: I feel sorry for the Seniors...

i echo that as well. this is one great group of seniors that i have watched my 4 years through ISU and flynn is probably one of the most unselfish players i have ever seen in any sport. he's got the heart the size of hilton and if we had 22 players with his heart and determination this would be a hard team to beat. its been great watching all seniors and i wish them the best. lets go out and win these last three games so they can go out with a bowl victory!

some of us can't wait for the O-Line to graduate. Flynn by far is unselfish and has performed above and beyond any one's expectations

Re: I feel sorry for the Seniors...

Amen. Flynn is a true teammate and has done all that was asked of him ever since he was here. He deserves a better fate than to play second fiddle to a couple of hot shots (Meyer and Blythe) and a crappy coaching staff. You know what else is sad? He doesn't have a touchdown this season, either.

Don't forget about the walk-on from Gilbert, Ryan Baum. Not many people have more heart than him. He has such an impact on the game and is relegated to special teams. He switched postitions this spring coming off missing practically all of last year, but has never really played much on d. I don't see why they just didn't keep him on offense and just put the ball in his hands a couple more times a game. He is the most dangerous return man in the Big 12 and will be missed.

Re: I feel sorry for the Seniors...

Blame the seniors or the coaches or both. They need to win Saturday if they are to win. Or the schedule. We will never beat Oklahoma and Texas at this rate. Losing to Iowa and Nebraska wrecked the season in my book - two games that were winnable. Now offense looks like a shadow of last year with same players. Wecannot score to save the seniors. The scoring output of the offense minds me of the nineties. However, in retrospect, the defense may be better than the nineties

We must have 150 plays with Bret running for his life this year. Sure gonna miss the oline next year....

Re: I feel sorry for the Seniors...

Before we started our run of bowl games, Mac had an award made to honor the seniors. It was what he considered the "bowl game" for the seniors. He talked it up pretty good to the team to treat the final home game as a "bowl game"
I doubt he's pulled it out yet this year, since technically, we can still be bowl eligible.
