Funny thing; Iowa property looks incredibly cheap from those in inflated priced and urban areas outside Iowa, especially Iowa property in the Southeast and Northwest corners of the state.
I was once tempted to buy the entire town of Climbing Hill or a majority of Bonaparte, Iowa at one time in my life, just so I could say I owned a town.
Problem is, the $145,000 price tag might look cheap to that California couple with stars in their eyes, but when it would take a Mil to make it liveable, and then you're still in Burlington, it doesn't look that great, anymore.
I also know a couple that owns a big chunk of Fonda, Iowa's downtown. I guess the town just gave it to them.
I'm baaack! See my Hot Milk For Breakfast blog under Social Groups for more details
Fonda is where I learned to play golf. Spent many a summer day hacking around that cow pasture/golf course. One year, I got a membership there and at Twin Lakes golf course, total was $83 for both courses for the whole year. Good times.
