    Mooch?

I've heard rumblings that Mariucci is not going to be the next coach at Michigan State as once thought. Anyone believe we'd have a shot at him, and if so, would he be a good candidate for a coaching vacancy if we happen to have one at the end of the year?

    Re: Mooch?

He would definitely bring "name recognition" to the program.
I don't know if he'd be interested or if we could afford him, but could you imagine the jump in season tickets sold if he was here?

    Re: Mooch?

I've thought the same thing. His style would have fit our personnel on offense very well this year. And next really.

Who knows just who we'll have next year, D-Mac or otherwise.

I trust Pollard to make the right call.

    Re: Mooch?

I'm with you on trusting Pollard. How nice is it to feel comfortable with the man running the show. I really like the speculation and the possibilities, but i'm also confident that somehow (whether Mac is back or not) the AD will find a reason for me to have hope again next season.

JP has said over and over that he will evaulate things at the end of the season...he is going to start contradicting himself.

    Re: Mooch?

I can see a possibility of a trigger being pulled if we lose Saturday. I think we're all holding out that TINY bit of hope that we could, perhaps, make a bowl game. When the news breaks that we won't be going (once we lose one of these last 3 games) then I'd have to say a coaching change is inevitable.Pollard has said before in a newspaper article that he will wait til the end of the season though, so he can "evaluate" things.

It's going to be an interesting 6 months for Cyclones. An exciting outlook on the basketball season, Sanderson taking the wrestling team to new heights, and ISU football will have some new faces.

Damn, 6 months ago I was thinking this team would either already elegible for a bowl, or getting it this saturday. My, my, how things can change!

Why is that we couldn't lure him? I don't think it's the location. Do you think money or program tradition is the issue?

    Re: Mooch?

I used to think or believe that JP would actually wait until the end of the season to evaluate but that is just total crap when you think about it. He can't wait until the end and then take time to evaluate. Even evaluating 2-3 days after the season will put him behind other schools looking for a new coach.
He is evaluating right now and putting feelers out right now. It is the only smart thing to do. I think after the KU game or maybe the CU game he will have 90% made up his mind on what to do. I think depending on how those games go will determine what happens during the mizzou week. If we really tank KU and CU, I could see him privately tell dmac he is going to change but give him the chance to coach his last game. This way he can actively pursue new coaches and pull the trigger soon after mizzou. If we win 1 or 2, then I could see him really wait until after the mizzou game to decide.
