    Microsoft Facebook???

Microsoft sends out feelers to Facebook: report | Technology | Internet | Reuters

Very interesting. IMO this is a much better use of MS's money than investing in Yahoo.

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

If Facebook goes to Microsoft I may take myself off...

I like being able to look up my friends but I don't care for all of the add ons and mostly now I just use it as a modern day address book that conviently updates itself

With all of the add-ons, Facebook is rapidly becoming just a more sophisticated version of Myspace. Some people's pages are looking more and more cluttered with crap (banners, bumper stickers, giant quizzes, other lame applications). Facebook was neat when it was clean and original. It is rapidly tumbling into lamity (I know it's not a word - English majors always make up words).

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

My thoughts exactly Cardinal... I like a few of the add-ons but very few of them. Most of them are annoying and a knock off of some other add on that already annoyed me

Even worse though is a lot of the add-ons are now some how linked to advertising - like Super Poke. They have pokes that are relevant to various product lines (like mary-Kay) or up coming movies.

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

There are a lot of large companies investing LOTS of money into the idea of those widgets on Facebook. Many think they will save the world of online ad revenue because the level of interest and interaction can be tracked with more detail and data gathered than just "someone clicked on a link".

I don't truthfully get it, but I am not a kid anymore. Advertisers need to capture that demographic and they seem to be moving in the right direction.

I do think there is way to much stuff on facebook, but at the same time I love some of those bumper stickers.

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

I think Microsoft tried buying out Facebook before, but Zuckerberg wouldn't have it. I hope they don't sell out, but considering that it's been on the decline for the past year (I certainly haven't used it very often)... it might be wise for him to cash out now. Isn't it worth close to $1 billion dollars?

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

I was under the impression that Microsoft was a small investor in Facebook already. I think they were somewhere around a 5% state or something similar. I might be mistaken though.

    Found it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21458486/

    Re: Microsoft Facebook???

I agree the additional aspects of facebook have made it difficult to find the basic features I use to enjoy. Plus the constant notifications because my friends can't find the skip button are not very cool either.
