Does anybody care about the NBA here?
On various college sports websites, I've seen people just tear in to the NBA about how much they hate it. I'm beginning to think I'm the last die-hard NBA fan in the midwest. It's sad too, because this year especially, the quality of play and the great players in the league have really shown how good the league can be in my opinion.
I havent watched the NBA in many years i really cant stand it at all. Just a bunch of thugs playing prison ball. Absolutely no defense or concept of team ball. Also hasnt anyone ever heard of traveling? Ill stick to college ball and my clones.
Cyclone State Now & Forever
I was a fan of the old school ball; MJ, Dr. J, Magic, Bird. I really liked watch Spudd Webb. But nowadays it is gone. the players are overpaid and most of them are winers. i have a problem when a guy has to diddle someone to get a board. Coughreggieevanscoughcough.
I think if we got an NBA team close to home it would be different but it would never happen.

This has been a great playoffs so far. I wish I had more time to watch it. I gave up on the NBA right around 2000 when it was absolutely brutal to watch but I think it's been making a comeback the last couple of years. The play is better and there are some really exciting players to watch. The Euros have helped and the young Americans are coming in with some amazing skills.
Too bad the teams I usually cheer for are either out of the playoffs (T-Wolves) or about to be (Pacers).
I agree Egg - It's been a tough couple of years to be a Pacer fan.
For anybody even remotely interested in seeing some compelling ball though, catch the upcoming Clippers/Lakers series. There is bad blood between the teams and even the Lakers are playing excellent team ball right now. It's great stuff.
My random thoughts on the NBA.
Absolutely no defense or concept of team ball. Also hasnt anyone ever heard of traveling?
I'm not a big NBA fan, but you aren't paying attention if you think that there is no defense. Detroit plays great defense as does Chicago. Many other teams play good defense as well.
My biggest problems with the NBA is the concept that a "star" player isn't officiated the same way as your average player or rookie. To me a foul is a foul, and traveling is traveling (I'm with you there, DevilDog) regardless of who is doing it!
This is also the first year I've become convinced that Phil Jackson is a great coach. He has turned Kobe and a bunch of nobodies into a pretty good team.
It should also be noted that I've only seen a hand full of games this year, due to my lack of having cable TV. So take my opinions for what they are worth.
I agree Cutlass about the star treatment.
I used to be a die-hard NBA fan, but not so much anymore. I'm a Mavs fan and it's been cool to see them step it up this year. It'll be fun to see how far they can go in the playoffs. Would be cool to see LeBron (the guy is only 21!) move on as well...
I was in Vegas last weekend and watched the Cleveland vs. Wizards game primarily because I had money on the game (Should've been renamed James vs. Arenas). There was no team basketball. It was give the ball to your best player and see what he creates. Enjoyed the game though, but it doesn't hold a candle to a College B-Ball Game.
"If you can't hear me, it's because I'm in parentheses."
NBA is the worst pro-sport out there!!! Talk about boring.
I used to watch every game when I was in High School. I loved the NBA on NBC on Sundays. Jordan, Bird, Magic, Dominique Wilkins....those guys were fun to watch.

Not in CO anymore but I'm not changing my name :)
I like the NBA a lot. I mean, heck, all the talented guys have been pretty much skipping the bulk of college, so if you want to see some guys with talent, the NBA is the place to look. And many players don't hit their prime until their late 20s, so if you only watch college, you're quite often watching incomplete players who will get better in time.
For the college lovers out there, the nearby Bulls are young enough, hustle enough and play the 'right way' enough, that they pretty much just look like a really good college team. They don't have a 'star', play as a team and don't complain to the refs very much at all.
It's odd, I can't explain why the NBA is so unappealing to me these days. When I was younger I loved watching the Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Jazz, Suns, Rockets and the other good times - but today I'm more likely to turn on just about any other pro sport instead, including soccer, hockey, golf...
I have never been too much into NBA BB because to me it is all about the ego's playing. Not much team play, just give me the ball so i can shoot. Don't think I've watched a NBA game since Michael Jordan won all those championships with the Bulls
The NBA is at such a high level, casual fans can't exist. And about the NBA being boring... Have you watched one highlight from the playoffs? Tell me you cheer for Lil' E on sundays too.
