    Plant rights

You just knew it was coming: At the request of the Swiss government, an ethics panel has weighed in on the "dignity" of plants and opined that the arbitrary killing of flora is morally wrong. This is no hoax. The concept of what could be called "plant rights" is being seriously debated.

    Re: Plant rights

Does mean I don't have to mow the lawn?

This could be Al Gore's next money making scam.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Will we be respecting the JTS field properly when we play football on it? Or does someone need to file some sort of grievance on the field's behalf?

Where is Al Gore when the field needs him?

    Re: Plant rights

I'm all for some degree of animal rights, and sure, plants are living organisms, but how can we honestly feel bad about destroying something that doesn't have some sort of consciousness? Pretty soon, I'll be made to feel bad about all those rocks I skipped across the lake...

Maybe one day we'll see Ricky Williams on trial for all of the "plants" he set fire to and passed to the guy on the left.

    Re: Plant rights

They want to give plants rights, but something like Daisy petal picking is ok? Is it ok to pick legs off of dogs? Humans? They're defeating the purpose of their own legislation.

    Re: Plant rights

Sounds a little whacky but I wonder if it doesn't pertain more to respecting what plant life does for the planet and us creatures on it. At any rate it gives the usual suspects a chance to whine some more about Al Gore.

    Re: Plant rights

The ironic thing is does this mean all the tree huggers will have to stop smoking weed? Killing then burning a plant can't be respectful of it's "rights."

    Re: Plant rights

and don't forget the beer drinkers and prescription drug users. Plenty of grains and herbs murdered to make those. And we should put the farmers on trial for killing all that corn and wheat when they harvest it. I'm sure that's the real agenda of that whacky Swiss government.

Maybe these people can stop eating, which is murdering plants and animals and then they won't be complaining anymore...one way or another.
