Blythe's status depends on recovering from an undisclosed virus.
"He was with our team at Kansas State, which means he was not contagious," McCarney said. "I don't think there's any kissing or hugging going on (among players); doctors said it was fine for him to be with us as long as he's not sharing water bottles.
"My wife made him some chicken noodle soup. Hopefully that's the magic potion."
Receiver Austin Flynn and Blythe are roommates.
"We have a little deal where we drink coffee the night before games," Flynn said. "I told him last week that you're not making my coffee today."
