    A New Home For Perrilloux?

Ryan Perrilloux, LSU's former phenom recruit, has been booted from the team. We all know that Texas, when Coach Chizik was there, was his second choice. The article, here, seems to suggest that Ryan will transfer to a lower division school so that he can play immediately.

What do you think, if he were interested, should we welcome in another SEC transfer? Yeah, I know the kid's had troubles, but his dad dies in February, and it seems to me really crappy to yank someone's scholarship right after they lose a parent.

Plus, in almost every case, when a troubled player transfers, the rest of their career passes without incident at their new school--not only because they know that they are out of chances, but because being dismissed forces them to grow up. In Perrilloux's case, I can't help but think that the loss of his father, once he works through the grief, will add a new-found maturity as well.

Give me a minute, and if I figure out how, I'll add a poll.

I would take him, he is just so talented. As long as he swears to Coach Chizik to never fail a drug test or have academic trouble again.

I'm all for second chances, but I would dispute the bolded part. I think that their chances to continue on without incident is 50/50 at best. I would support him coming if he were placed under strict guidelines.

I believe in second chances, and I think he maybe be too talented to turn down if we were given the chance to accept or turn down!

If a guy like this comes knocking, you have to answer the door. There would have to be a zero tolerance policy, and I have no doubt that Chizik would cut him loose if need be.

Do I think we have any chance he will come here?? No.

Exactly you don't turn down a former number 1 QB especially when your not a traditional college football powerhouse!

Re: A New Home For Perrilloux?

Can I point out how Sam Keller worked out for Nebraska... Lets not forget on this that both our QB's are So and next year Jr's. How would this kid see the field? Do you set the program back for just one year?

He will see the field in both Bates and Arnauld's Jr year, why risk it. Talent is talent, but I would rather take our QB's and the years they have left..

For one thing, he's a heck of a lot more talented than Keller. For another, as much as I like Arnaud and Bates, they aren't nearly as talented as Perrrilloux, either.

And as far as what it would do to Arnaud and Bates, well, it would certainly seem to offer Phillip an opportunity to redshirt, now wouldn't it?

And, who says that he beats either of them out?

I thought Chizik doesn't have the patience for any player with problems? I mean, just because a guy is talented doesn't mean he deserves an extra chance.

    Right?

Talent is talent and I would welcome him with open arms. However chances of him coming here are zero and none. UNI has better chances of landing him than ISU. He will go to one year of D1AA and then probably bolt for the NFL draft next year.

Re: A New Home For Perrilloux?

Bringing Perrilloux in would hurt team morale, IMO. Not to mention that Chizik would then seem to be a "grab-bag" coach, desperate for an infusion of talent, as if what he already has is not good enough.

I believe in second chances and this kid has already had two or three. Keep him as far from Ames as possible.

You mean, just like accepting Bo Williams as a transfer?

I'm with SouthernHawk on this (wow!). The guy is talented, but he has more than enough strikes against him @ LSU. I'd say forget it.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Why mess with the team like that??? Say if Bates wins the job this year. Then Perrilloux comes in and plays a year, who says Bates doesn't take off. He wouldn't want to redshirt. Be in his shoes. Then where do we go from there??

Not a good coaching decision... Not at all. I love talent and we need it, but this kid does have a history.

    Which brings me to SH

This guy has had multiple chances at LSU. SH you hit the nail on the head. Chizik can't bring him in after all his problems and still seem like a disaplined coach like he is establishing. We might as well bring Berryman back (which I know isn't possible) along with others that have been kicked off the team.

No need for the coach to develop a double standard. He's already had a second and third chance at LSU.

Also, how does anyone know he is better then Keller??? Did he play last year? Or are you on the sidelines watching practice down there.
