    67 and counting...

I just unpacked my shot glasses and while I had them out I decided to count them. I currently sit at 67 shot glasses, I owe myself another one and atleast 1 other one was broken a while back and was unreplaceable, depsite being bought in Ames.

I've been collecting shot glasses (among other things) since I was 17 (My first one was bought in Key West, Florida when i was on a Boy Scout high adventure. I didn't drink at the time, but it was the only souvenir I saw that I liked)

I now have 7 or 8 ISU shot glasses (and 1 that is no more), Shot glasses from every Big XII school I've been to (except Nebraska), and 1 from about every city in Europe I visited, among other shot glasses and ones that people have given me (Shot glasses have become a somewhat common souvenir people pick up for me now...). No, they aren't all unique (I have a 6 pack from Poland, 4 pack of Tiki shot glasses from Hawaii and 4 of the same ISU ones, for a good toasting set ), but either way...

Kind of curious what random collections other have out there? (aka it's still not football season yet)

I travel a lot for work, so I get my husband shot glasses of the NCAA everywhere I go. I only started a year or so ago, so I have about 30 for him. Knocked out three when I was in North Carolina.

I collect clothes. And DVD's. And iPods.

That is impressive - can't be a lot of shelf space in there.

Did anyone else used to have collections forced on them when they were younger? Maybe it's just a girl thing, but people were always giving me figurines and stuff when I was in middle/high school. I have about fifteen Precious Moments packed away - people kept giving them to me, even though they're not really my style.

I used to do T-shirts (still do some, but bulky and relatively expensive) and hat pins. Between Shot Glasses and Hat Pins I'm usually good where ever I go

I collect $1 chips from different casinos. I have over 100 collected from LV, Atlantic City, and numerous Indian casinos. Several are from old casinos in LV that no longer exist. Most unique one is probably from a blackjack table in a hotel bar in Honduras (5 Lempira denomination).

I'm counting the doubleshot ones (don't remember what they're called) as a shotglass too...only one has actually been used though...and I didn't get to use it

    Re: 67 and counting...

When I was little my brother and I used to collect those little (~18" long) wooden bats from all the major league stadiums and one every year from the CWS. Then the bats started getting smaller and more expensive, and we stopped traveling to major league stadiums. Still have them in my closet somewhere.

As far as collections go I like to buy/collect Legos. I'll admit to still getting Legos at christmas at age 23. My one sister collects American Doll (I think that's what it is). She has got all the dolls, and tubs full of clothing. She still changes them every time she comes home into the different seasonal outfits and she's 26.

Any particular types of Legos? I'm a Castles man myself, though my interest in any of their new stuff died with the Fright Knights.

Big fan of the Forest Men/Black Knights/Crusaders/Royal Knights/Wolf Pack/Black Forest groups... had a few Black Falcons in there too...

Yesssss! This is my kind of conversation.

I went through stages. I was a big Castle man, too. I had quite a few of the Crusaders and Black Knights. I petered out around the Dragon Masters.

In general I was more into Space. Blacktron, M-Tron, Space Police, the cold planet dudes (can't remember their name...I'm ashamed), Exploriens, and then the hardcore Martians.

I will admit to going to Toys-R-Us as a 23-year old looking for new Legos to buy. I am constantly disappointed in the selection these days.

Haven't been to Toys-R-Us but I wander through the toys at Target/Wal-mart, and I agree it is very disappointing. Mostly just marketing gimicks now, like Spiderman, Harry Potter and Star Wars

I enjoyed Space too, but never got into it as much (my dad was in the military, I was doing good getting the Castles that I did), we hit up the Ice guys too (I can't remember either ), had some of the Space Police. I liked the M-tron/Blacktron guys, but they were a little before me or I was too focused on Castles at the time.

Also went through a town phase, though my brothers got more of those sets (the police stations, large Seaport. I had the smaller one, though we'd combine). One of my first sets was a pretty cool race track...

My Brother got into the Under Water guys, with their shiney crystals. I'd have dealved into that more, but that was just when the Black Forestmen and Royal Knights were gearing up.

I also had the Skulls Eye Schooner - the biggest Pirate ship legos ever made (may have had the most guys too), 4 cannons abreast. It was the only pirate set I had - I very clearly remember for my 7th or 8th birthday being in a KB Toys and getting to choose between a Pirate set or a Castle set - I debated a while and settled on the Kings Mountain Fortress (Crusaders) with the glowing ghost, setting me on the Castle trend that dominated the rest of my Lego career. Eventually when I have a house I want to build a layout for my castles, kind of like what people do with model railroads

I have several from all over but nothing I would consider a collection. I used to nab a bunch of the heavy duty glass ones from Ames bars before they switched over to the crappy small plastic ones. Those glass ones were solid, hard to break.
