Angry My Week Old SUV - Almost Ruined

So the wife and I traded in my Dakota Quad Cab last week for a smaller SUV to offset the gas issues. Tonight we decided to go get a big garden cart at Lowes to make our Spring & Summer easier when doing yard work. That's where the story begins and almost ends.

We fold down the back seats but one doesn't go down all the way, it's stuck on something. The wife opens the side door and pushes on the seat, all we here is a small sound. She pulls up the seat and a jumbo-sized can of fix-a-flat goes airborne zipping around the vehicle like a overblown balloon that just got a hole in it.

    Zip, zip, zip, zoom, splat!

The ENTIRE vehicle was covered, not just sprayed, COVERED & COATED with a thick layer of liquid rubber ****. Not a square centimeter didn't get it - you couldn't have covered the vehicle better with a paint sprayer or roller. Windows, Seats, Dash, Floors, Ceiling, Us, EVERYTHING had a thick coat.

Of course we had nothing to clean up the mess with. I rushed in and got the biggest pack of Bounty papertowels I could find, Windex and scouring pads. We quickly started franticly scrubbing everything, every last inch. When we got things so we could see out the windows, we loaded up the wagon and drove the 5 miles home.

Once home, we go through a few rolls of papertowels, a bottle of Windex, three tough scowering pads and a spray bottle of water. After 2 hours of frantic scrubbing, we finally got everything.

The worst part - I just spent $150 on Sunday to get the entire inside shampooed and detailed.

    That sucks...

When we were kids, my brother and I accidentally set off an entire fire extinguisher in the cab of my dad's pickup.

Re: My Week Old SUV - Almost Ruined

    Now that's a crap sandwich.

Last week I finally got rid of my 1998 S10 and got a brand new Honda Ridgeline. It's quite a bit bigger then the S10 so I am trying to figure out the best way to get it in the garage. In doing so I back into the clutch lever of my motorcycle and put a nice pressure dent in the tailgate of my first, and probably last brand new vehicle. Not even 300 miles on it. I took it to Dent Eliminators in Clive and they charged me $75 to get it out and now I can't see it anymore.

A big thank you goes out to Regency builders. Thank the good Lord I decided to build the extra 2 ft onto the garage or I wouldn't have been able to get anything in the fricking garage but my two vehicles.

    I feel your pain man.

I'm sorry, but I was laughing at this post. That is just hilarious, hopefully you'll think so tomorrow. I can just imagine the fix-a-flat zooming around the interior. Glad you were able to clean it up.

Sorry to hear about that Jeremy. Maybe it's time to upgrade the interior (leather).

Re: My Week Old SUV - Almost Ruined

I want to laugh but I'm still speachless. I just stood there for about 30 seconds with my jaw on the ground. It wouldn't have been as bad if it was anything else but this stuff dries incredibly quick, I had to scrub about 15 minutes per window and I'm probably going to have to get a new mirror because I couldn't get it well enough.

    Karma! The Dakota wasn't happy.

That does stink, but it is funny if you're not in the situation. You can't make up a story that good. That said, I would have been pretty ticked off as you can't clean that stuff quick enough I'm guessing.

This happens on a night when NBC shows My Name Is Earl.

This sounds like something out of sitcom...

It's just good neither of you got hurt and nothing was broken. The thing could have exploded much worse.

That is awful. My somewhat similar story . . . at a rest stop in Indiana on our move out to Boston. My dog got diahrea in the car while we were eating lunch. Might not have been too bad if we had leather seats, but we didn't. Perhaps the worst part, the diahrea ruined the brand new Cyclone leash that I'd bought just before leaving.

Were you able to finish your lunch though?
