    Re: Beer Myths

Beer is great. I took a college class that taught me how to brew beer as well as the history of beer. Sorry to say, but the class was at Wartburg and not ISU.

    Re: Beer Myths

Coors is the most gimmicky beer ever. First the "cold sensing labels". Like you need the label to change color to tell you that it now tastes like cold urine instead of warm. I also remember awhile back they were making a big deal about the "wide mouth can". Haven't all cans had wide mouths since like 1993? And now the "vented" wide mouth can. That's important so you can chug the Coors Light faster to get the experience over with.

And I'm sure people will accuse me of being a "beer snob" but I assure you that's not the case. I drink my share of cheap domestic beer, just not Coors.

I wont call you a snob. You are right about the gimmicks. I have to say though, having the beer at the brewery was a whole different experience. Not sure why it changes so bad when shipped.

    Re: Beer Myths

Myth #9 – Wine is More Complex Than Beer
Give me a break! I enjoy wine as much as the next drinker, and I appreciate the complexities and nuances of a truly fine zinfandel or sauvignon blanc, but how can a drink made from a single ingredient, grapes, be necessarily more complex in flavour than one made from a minimum of water, malt and hops and an almost limitless diversity of other ingredients? Ever find coriander or cumin notes in a wine? No? Well, you can in a beer.

There is an old saying in brewing: Poets make wine, Engineers brew beer.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775

    Re: Beer Myths

Dang, I like beer. I mean, I really, really, really like beer.

In fact, my love of beer has led me to come here, twice.

    I think I'll have a beer tonight....

That makes sense. I am sure Martin Luther enjoyed his beer.

    This list is great.
