How much do I wish Seneca Wallace was still here?

I hate to live in the past, but this does prove a point. How much fun was ISU football when Seneca Wallace was here? I miss cheering for a team that at least had an opportunity to win.

He looks great. The Chiefs radio guys are saying he's handled the blitzes better than Alex Smith, Rivers, and Leinart, the other young QBs the Chiefs have played. They said they think he'll be a starter somewhere in the NFL someday. Other than missing a few throws he's made all the right decisions.

Yeah, I really miss that guy that quit at the end of 2002 and would rather step out of bounds fr a sack than throw it away. I know no one remembers because I was one of seven people left at the Jack at the end of that UConn game, but Seneca mailed it in at the end of that year.

Sorry, but I disagree. He got his *** kicked all year because nobody could block for him but I didn't see him quitting.

I must have been one of the other 7 at that game. It was right before Thanksgiving break and I drove home right after the game and I still don't think my feet were thawed by the time I was home.

D--n right, Egg! Wasn't Seneca's fault that the o-line stunk in '02. Unfortunately, I think Seneca would be taking a pounding behind this o-line this year as well.

Seneca has a cannon for an arm and is one of my favorite players ever at ISU. It was not his fault that he couldn't carry the entire team home after the debacle at OU (aka The Beginning of the End).

I was also at the UCONN game painfully watching. Yeah, it was great when we had Seneca, but it was also awful to see us lose 6 straight. It was awful watching him throw INT after INT against good defensive teams. I'm not bashing him here, I think Seneca was (and is) a great player. All I'm saying is, Seneca had a pretty similar schedule to the one this year, and his team tanked almost the same way this year's team did.

wasn't just the o-line - the receivers couldn't catch passes that hit them right between the numbers (actually, that MIGHT have been part of the problem - they hit the numbers). the receivers drop the passes and wallace takes the rap for a poor passing %.

If I wasn't visiting my sister who was student teaching in the czech republic over thanksgiving break I would have been the 8th person in the stands.

Re: How much do I wish Seneca Wallace was still here?

Granted it was fun to watch Seneca play, I also dont think having him would be that much better. We already have a great QB that can make something out of nothing... I'd rather have last years defense back over Seneca anyday. our D actually made consistant stops and turned the ball over to our offense last year... havnt seen much of that yet this yr...

We didnt lose 6 straight in 02, we had that late season Missouri win sandwiched in there, which was arguably Wallaces best game as a Cyclone.

I see both Seneca and Sage played yesterday. When the Fantasy ticker was scrolling for QBs, they were back to back in ranking. Weird.

Re: How much do I wish Seneca Wallace was still here?

Seneca is one of the best players ISU has ever had. In '02 the OL was horrible, just like this year!! Seneca was running for his life, just like Meyer. There was, and still is, no protection and little running game.
