They keep the turds on because love the reaction. I stopped watching the show 2 years ago. Its just become old to me and I agree with you on that it sucks that the talent gets voted off but the suckos stay on.

I've never seen a single episode, and I plan on keeping that streak intact.

The only person with real talent to come off of that show is William Hung. And I just heard today that he is planning on giving up on the business.

    Re: American Idol

It'll be David vs. David in the final so it really doesn't matter which of the others are getting voted off at this point.

I woulda dumped Brooke last night if it were up to me.

    Re: American Idol

I stopped watching the show after Carrie Underwood won. That was probably the last good season of the show.

The funny thing is that some of the people that did not win the show have had more success than some that won it. When was the last time you heard from Ruben, Fantasia, and Taylor Hicks? Or even Clay Aiken? Then look at some that have had some pretty decent success in country like Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, and Bucky Covington. Diana DeGarmo has done some broadway musicals and is attempting country music as well and I think Jennifer Hudson has done some musicals or something too. It's kind of funny how AI is looking for the next pop star but has probably produced way more successful artists in country music than anything. Kelly Clarkson is the only winner that has been a hit outside of country and Carrie by far has been the biggest success I think.

    Re: American Idol

We both watch it and are fans. I don't believe for a second Jason is a "no talent hack". I do think he or Brooke should have went home last night instead of Carley. And this coming from a huge fan of Brooke.

I hope the "rocker David" wins - I just can't stand David A. He can sing, I'm just not a fan of him.

David Cook, how he is s star - period.

There are many things with Idol that are cheesy/annoying. I try to ignore 'em and focus on the singing - I'm a big fan of music and it's enjoyable to learn how some of these classic songs/musicians came about when it gets to that stage of the competition. It's also enjoyable to watch these completely unknown people grow into icons.

Having said that, I may not be able to watch next week's show. The "talent adviser" next week is Neil Diamond. If I have to watch someone sign Sweet Caroline - I might off myself.

Have not watched since Fantasia won. Wasn't really fond of the show in the first place but her winning sealed the deal for me. Don't feel like I've missed anything over the last 3-4 years.

Don't forget Daughtry...who is clearly the best singer/entertainer on the show and not win it. Heck, he may be the best Idol product top-to-bottom.

We didn't watch Idol until after the Underwood season - when I was reading an article about her, Idol, etc. I mean, wow - what a beautiful woman with an amazing voice. Was hooked after that and you're right - from what I understand - that was one of the better seasons. Although, I do think the group of Pickler, Daughtry, etc was a very fun one - even though the "wrong" guy won.

    Re: American Idol

In my opinion, real musicians do three things:

    1. Write their own songs
    2. Play an instrument
    3. Never lip sync

I know several local musicians that struggle to get by, and never get "discovered" and AI people do get discovered because they are pretty and can do a convincing Karaoke. It ain't right.

That was a season that turned me off the show as well. Some of the better singers got booted when it got down to the final 4 or 5 I think and it was obvious the judges were pulling for Fantasia the whole season. The final was what really irked me because Diana hands down had the best night and the judges were hardly giving her much compliments while Fantasia stunk and on the final song which they both had to sing Simon said that it was her "acceptance speech." If I remember it was one of the closest final votes right?

If anyone watched Gone Country on CMT Diana should have won that too but John Rich (the Rich in Big & Rich) for some reason picked Julio Inglesis Jr. because he was trying to draw in the Hispanic crowd. Funny thing is I've read rumors that he still has signed Diana so he's not going to let someone else take credit if she makes it in country. Here's the song she did for Gone Country: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4o01R6c-es]YouTube - Diana Degarmo - Right Back Where We Ended[/ame] I could see it becoming a radio single.

    Re: American Idol

My wife an I watch this show every week, it's entertaining if nothing else. I agree that the next few weeks don't really matter, it'll be David and David at the end. David Cook should win, he's definitely a performer. David A. is a hell of a singer, but his lack of confidence really shows, but the kid's so young so it's understandable.

I was glad Carly went home, she was awful. There's a reason her CD sold like 500 copies.

How can anyone rag on Neil Diamond, that man is a legend. That guy can write a song.

Because the main voting population is 14 year old girls. And they vote as many times as they can in an hour.
