IF YOU'RE POLLARD, WHO DO YOU HIRE?

I'm convinced Pollard will name a new head coach as soon possible after the season is over. With a roster short of size and speed, he can't afford to wait and let 2007 class be a shambles. Mac's 2007recruiting class is nowheresville and won't improve, even if he stays.(and that won't happen.)
So who are the leading candidates? Not very many names being tossed around that I've heard so far. Pollard will want
    1. Proven up and comer
    2. Good PR appeal
    3. Someone available quickly
    4. experience at a successful big time program

No particular order but here are some names for you: Steve Loney, Gary Patterson, Jon Cooper, Bo Pellini.

Find Steve Loney, bring him in as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. If the slide continues, you have someone there to step in and keep the continuity.

Re: IF YOU'RE POLLARD, WHO DO YOU HIRE?

Loney was run out of town on a rail from the Vikings. All of the offensive woes were blamed on him. He's a nice guy, but kinda boring. I don't think he passes the test. He'd be crezy to come back here as Asst. If we win, Mac would stay and Loney would be nowhere. If we lose, he'd get blamed and fired with Mac.

Uh, no. Fire the head coach that is responsible for this mess. And last year's disappointment. And 2004's mess as well.

Steve Loney seems like a good HEAD COACH replacement for Mac. Although the thread about Jim Harbaugh sounded pretty good to me.

How much money do you think Loney makes?

Loney probably in the 2-300 K range. He was desperate after Vikings mess. Where is Hargaugh at anyway?

Let's see... Little known offensive line coach in the NFL, considered boring by the fanbase returns to his alma mater and ..... Whoops yeah, that didn't work out very well for Iowa now did it?

Loney as head coach would at least have a clue offensively.

Gary Patterson is not coming to ISU. He was not interested in leaving TCU for K-State (his alma matter), why would he leave for ISU?

Re: IF YOU'RE POLLARD, WHO DO YOU HIRE?

Jim Harbaugh is in his third year as the University of San Diego head football coach and quarterbacks coach. Last year he guided the Toreros to a program-best 11-1 overall record, the PFL North Division title, the outright PFL Championship, and to the No. 1 ranking for all I-AA Mid-Major programs. The Toreros received the Sports Network Cup for being the No. 1 ranked team in the final poll. Additionally, Harbaugh was the PFL North Division Coach of the Year and a nominee for the I-AA Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year. Under his direction the Toreros enter the 2006 campaign having won 16 of their last 17 games.

Re: IF YOU'RE POLLARD, WHO DO YOU HIRE?

Craig Bohl at North Dakota State might be another coach to consider. He has done a lot there in a short time and his team is currently ranked #6 in their division. Bohl was at Nebraska eight years and knows the Big XII. NDSU played Minnesota to a 10-9 game last week-end. Even though U 0f Minn. is down this year, it appears our team would not have been that close.

Bohl is 47 years old and Iowa State would be a step up at a timely point in his career. He is from Lincoln, and may not look to bolt to another school if he is able to have success in Ames.
