    Ben Stein's new movie...

"Expelled" - I think is the name. Open's tomorrow, but will be sneak previewed in some places tonight. I was hearing that a Ames theater was one of them. Does anyone know if that's true?

I also "heard" that protestors will be present as well...

    might get a little zesty....

    Anyone going?

Sounds like he's being the anti-Michael Moore.

Should be interesting. I don't always agree with Ben Stein, but I think I'll give him a little more credence given his pedigree than I would Michael Moore.

I believe it's a crtique on the Theory of Evolution. I think ISU's head of the religion department, Dr Avolos? (an atheist) is interviewed. As is Richard Dawkins...among others.

I heard he argues in favor of ID. Like Michael Moore's "documentaries", I will not be watching this.

I'm going...never seen Micheal Moores stuff...but from what I read. Expelled has some very interesting interviews from the worlds leading Darwinists.

    Re: Ben Stein's new movie...

Dawkins says that he and another person were duped into being in the film based on the producer (not Ben Stein) indicating the film was about something different than what it actually is. Also, the other person was prevented from attending the premiere, even though he was in the film, and "applied" for tickets and received them. Dawkins was able to get into the premiere, as he was actually a guest of the other person (as was allowed). But since his name wasn't on the list of attendees, he made it into the theater.

Here is Dawkins' take on the film.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. ~ George Carlin

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year oldís life:
The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers

From what it sounds like, the producer of the movie interviewed a bunch of preeminent advocates of evolution under the guise that they were making a relatively honest documentary. After they were interviewed, their interviews were taken out of context to either make them look silly, or to make them appear to take viewpoints that they don't actually have.

They were then basically banned from the movie premiere for whatever reason.

Sounds like a pretty horrible documentary, and I'm thinking I'll just throw this in the garbage next to the other faux-intellectual "documentaries" like Sicko, Fahrenheit 911 and Bowling for Columbine.

Well, it's good to have a documentary like this from the other side. I was getting tired of Moore and the ultra-left getting all the press.
