Food for thought if a change occurs...

College football soup: The coaching carousel
    September 27, 2006
    by Tom Dienhart

It's getting to be that time of the year. You know, when the coaching rumor mill begins to turn.
Here's one thing I'm hearing: LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini is a hot commodity. Many feel Nebraska blew it by not hiring him after the 2003 season, when he filled in for deposed Frank Solich as head coach for the Alamo Bowl and led the Huskers to a win over Michigan State. Pelini has an impressive resume that matches -- if not exceeds on some fronts -- that of Texas defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, who always gets mentioned as a head coach-in-waiting. What's it all mean? Pelini, who has worked at Oklahoma and in the NFL with the 49ers, Patriots and Packers, is a 38-year-old rising star who's ready to take over a program. And it figures to happen very soon for the former Ohio State free safety who is the product of the same rugged Youngstown (Ohio) High School (Cardinal Mooney) that shaped the gridiron backbones of Bob and Mike Stoops.

Both Pelini and Chizik sound like great hires. If Bill Belichik decides to not take the job I say we go after one of those two if the coaching job is available.

Bill Parcells will probably be available at the end of the season.

I actually read on the interent earlier that Bill Belichik would hire him as the offensive coordinater and hire Coach Ditka as the defensive coordinater. Also, and i dont know about this because it seems a little far fetched but, he would hire Ferentz from Iowa to be the O-line coach/towel boy. He'd only be the towel boy for the first 5 years to teach him for going to coach at Iowa. If it's on the internet it must be true! I hope Belichik takes the job!!!

I just read that Vince Young is apparently going to appeal to the NCAA to drop their rule about forfeiting eligibility, as he intends on obtaining his degree from ISU and will use his last year of eligibility on the football team as well.

    I can't wait.

Hey, I got bad rep too, Don't they know that Coop and Johnson both have ISU connections? Coop played here and Johnson coached here?

    Seriously folks, lighten up.

So did Pete Carroll. I think theres a list somewhere on cyclones.com of all the famous coaches who at one time coached at ISU. I say we get Corso and have Herby as the QB coach, Fowler can do the O-Line, (he's a pretty big dude), and of course Mark May can do the D-line, am i missing anyone else??? :)

Former ESPN college football analyist Trev Alberts could coach linebackers.

Can you Imagine the rage inside of Trev The Homer Husker Alberts if he knew that you mentioned his name linked to ISU?
