Starting Line up

What is our starting line up shaping up to be? And are there any positions that we still need to recruit hard in to fill spots for the roster next year?

Re: Starting Line up

Starting Lineup:
PG- Corey Mcintosh Jr.
SG- Michael Taylor Jr.
[glow=red,2,300]SF- RAHSHON CLARK JR.[/glow]
PF- Jiri Hubalek Jr../Jessan Gray Sr.
C-Rosss Marsden So./ Jiri Hubalek Jr.

Other with playing time:
Cory Johnson
Wesley Johnson
Dodie Dunson
Brock Jacobsen ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??

As you can see, whoever starts at PF decides who starts at C or vice versa. I Really doubt Jiri will sit so hes gonna be playing one of them and i'm not sure which. And yes, it would be nice to get at least 2 more recruits. A gaurd to step in and takeover when these guys and dodie a little, and a bigman to add depth. We not need this depending on how some of the other recruits pan out but it would be nice to have. Tht being said i doubt it will happen. The roster Jeremy has will probly be the one we have in December. But i think for a new coach with as little time as he had he will do a great job.

Re: Starting Line up

I think that is probably pretty accurate. I had to laugh a bit at the fact that if that is correct, we would be starting perhaps 4 juniors and a senior. It would look like a veteran team of newcomers. I guess thats what happens i transition times.

What is the big deal about Brock? We have nothing to go off of about him and we're assuming he can contribute?

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Starting Line up

You're right, i have never seen him play and few have but i have heard that he can do a lot, even though he is limited athletically. I did put ??'s because like i said, i never saw him so i'm just hoping. And i doubt WM would have redshirted him if he didnt think he was going to contribute in the future.

Re: Starting Line up

Brock also had a scholarship offer from Drake he turned down to walk on at ISU.

Here's what I think we're going to see next year:

PG: McIntosh
SG: Taylor
SF: Clark
PF: Marsden
C: Jiri

Dunson subbing for McIntosh and Taylor
Wesley Johnson subbing for Taylor and Clark
Cory Johnson subbing for Clark and Marsden
Gray subbing for Marsden and Jiri

I expect to see the three guys of Marsden, Hubalek, and Gray all getting a little under 30 minutes per game. Dunson and Cory Johnson will play about 25 or so I would guess. And the other two will be in the 10-15 range.

While we don't exactly have a full roster of guys, I feel like there is a lot of versitility with the team. Guys can play several positions and I think a key to ISU's success will be throwing guys at teams in different formations. A lineup of McIntosh, Taylor, Clark, Johnson, and Gray would be extremely quick and athletic. I don't know how well they could play defense, but they could really push the ball. I don't think that will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some crazy stuff like that to throw the other team off.

Re: Starting Line up

I would be very pleased if we are able to go 8 or 9 deep. The only question mark is if these new guys can step up and contribute on a consistent basis. If they can, this could be a dangerous team with a lot of surprises.

Where did that come from? That comment makes no sense what so ever.

I have to agree with bryce. I think this is the most likely starting lineup from what we know right now.

I think it would be awesome if Rahshon improved his ballhandling enough to spend some time at the shooting guard position and get cory johnson on the floor at the same time (if he is ready to contribute at a high level). I'd like to see Rahshon on the floor 35 plus minutes per game.

Agree, except I don't see us getting that much out of Dodie this year.

Brock will be a key in this team's success. He is unstoppable from the 3 and very dangerous from the corner. You can't leave him unguarded or he will burn you. In my opinion, he is one of our biggest threats as his potential isn't known to many. In fact, I've heard that compared to some of the new recruits that have been on campus and worked out for the new staff, Brock is ahead of the game and currently looks better than most of them.

If Brock looks better than most of them it will be a long season. If Brock sees more than occasional spot duty it will be a long season. Brock is not unstoppable. He can't create a shot on the outside. He doesn't have quick release. He is unstoppable in a game of horse. He is a liability defensively particularly in a pressure man to man defense. He is not Jake, he is not even John Neal.
