    Short Taggart article

There's an article in the DMR today about Shawn Taggart. He says he had decided to transfer before the firing of Morgan. He also says the firing came as no big surprise and basically says discipline was lacking in the program. No sour grapes, just his take on things.

    Re: Short Taggart article

I believe this confirms what most of us suspected, that the lack of discipline was the main reason for WM's dismissal. It would be interesting to know if JP already had knowledge of the defections from the team. This would have been a reason for him to act so quickly.

He could have gotten discipline if he would have just stayed here.

Gotta feel good for him. He found a great fit for him and look where he is now.

His team won more games this year than we have in our last 2 combined.

I agree. Hard to believe he would have made it to the Championship game at Iowa State even if everyone would have stayed.

Agreed. Considering the best team in school history never made the final 4.

    Re: Short Taggart article

Talk about a smart move. Instead of playing middle-to-bottom of the pack Big 12 basketball he's playing for the title and may (key word may) have a look at the NBA.

Although I initially had a bad taste left in my mouth towards Taggart due to his attitude, effort, etc. at Iowa State. I am happy for him now. Memphis style of ball is a good fit and Calipari seems to be a good fit for him as well.

    Re: Short Taggart article

So player do like discipline. It is very interesting he was going to leave before Morgan got let go. 4 players chose to leave in Morgans last year very interesting. Maybe JP knows what he is doing after all.

    Re: Short Taggart article

I think a lot of you need to read things more closely. He said "it's more disciplined" at Memphis than it was at ISU...not that it was lacking discipline or undisciplined at ISU.

By the way, I thought that Morgan got all the players together when he was canned and told them to transfer...I have heard it from many reliable sources on this thread!?!?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think this is what I would have typed if you hadn't already. I never liked Taggart when he played here, but I watch him play for Memphis and it's clear that something changed. Calipari is obviously a better fit for him than Morgan.

    Re: Short Taggart article

I have no hard feelings towards Taggart. He didn't bad mouth ISU up and down on his way out. He simply transfered and is now playing for in the championship game.
