Kellman, Schmelling on new roster . . .

Football - Roster - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - Iowa State Cyclones Sports

Apparently, there's an updated spring football roster (it's dated 4/4/08) at Cyclones.com. Strangely (since both have been reported to have left the team) DE Randy Kellman and OG Tom Schmeling are on the roster.

Seems confusing to me. Can't imagine that the sports information office could screw up this badly (my opinion), so I wonder if these two guys have not had a change of heart?

(Just tried to fix the misspelling of Schmeling's name in the header but couldn't get access to it.)

None of the following guys have been practicing or participating in team activities in any way, shape, or form since the start of spring practice. The SIO screwed this up.

    Taylor Bennett
    Zach Hunt
    Randy Kellman
    Tom Schmeling

I thought Bennett had transferred in search of playing time. Seems like there's room for the SID to do some shaping up.

I don't see either of them on the roster anymore.

Bummer, you got my hopes up for a second.

Boy, that was a coincidentally quick roster change, unless. . . .

My apology, StLouisClone. (I'd like to know why RK did not feel ISU was the place for him, but I don't expect to learn the reason.)

Take it easy on the SID...most have alot of different things going on at this point in time and a little slip on roster has been known to happen....

    trust me, I know...

No, I disagree. It is not a little slip-up occurring one time. I worked for many years as a sports journalist in this state. I'm familiar with the inner workings of a Div. IA sports information department.

Roster mismanagement, from my longtime observation of the Cyclones.com site, imo has been continuous. For me, excuses will not play. If aware of the situation, I cannot imagine that JP would be happy with this performance, either.

Oh jeez, they got it corrected in about 20 minutes. If you hadn't noticed it I bet less than 20 people would have even known.

Well, if it's that much of an issue for you, why don't you contact the SID office directly instead of griping on a message board? And if indeed you were a longtime sports journalist in Iowa, then I'm sure they would respond.

Re: Kellman, Schmelling on new roster . . .

Yikes, in my job I try to do the best job I can. However, sometimes I make a mistake. I try to correct that mistake and make it "right" if at all possible immediately. Now, that being said, sometimes I could stand on my head and do circus tricks and it still would not make some people happy. Life is good, we can choose to dwell on what is right or what is wrong. We all have bad days, but a misplaced name on a roster is not a big deal. Go to Blank Childrens Hospital for a dose of the big picture. Wow!

If you don't think every day is a good day, try missing one.

I don't know who Taylor Bennett is but I was hoping it was not the FB from Decorah. Taylor Mansfield RSo 6'1" 255 is the one. Someone said tough as snot, high school wrestler, can't say for sure yet but Mac would waste talent at fullback aka Ryan Kock. Would anyone else like to see this guy work on the d line?

Here type out an email to Jamie Pollard then. What good is it to cry here and insult people and their jobs..... Hmmmm didn't I see you attack someone in another thread about insulting people and their opinions????

Ohhh... Just so you don't have to search too hard, here is JP email.

What's the big deal about a minor roster slip up at this time of year. There are no games for what, five months? Give em a break.

Are things with the football program so well that people have now been forced to criticize the website people instead? That would be awesome!
