    Kopi Luwak

Anyone ever heard of this? It's the most expensive coffee in the world, because the coffee beans have been eaten by a type of civet cat, passed through its system, harvested by Indonesian workers, then is cleaned, roasted, and brewed.

Kopi Luwak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It sells for upwards of $700/lb. on the west coast, and $420/lb. right here in the Twin Cities, and I had some this weekend!!!! There's only one place here that carries it and they charge $10 for an 8 oz. cup.

    Thoughts?

It was very good, but not $10/cup good. I wanted to do it once for the experience, and the experience was worth $10.

I've never been one for the gourmet coffee...I'm fine with Folgers.

    Anything it's comparable too?

I didn't actually see it come out of the civet cat, so it could have been Folgers for all I know...

The story I always heard about it was that it would be the smoothest cup of coffee you've ever had, and that rang true. There is not a hint of bitterness or acidity.

I have a catte or three. Maybe I should replace their food with coffee, clean the litter box and profit?

I've thought about a whole exotic line...possum, dog, raccoon, etc. Heck, I'd even undercut the $420/lb.

    Now that you mention it...

No really, the coffee beans are ingested when they are still in the "berry" that contains the beans. The beans never contact the poo.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

    Re: Kopi Luwak

My mom went to Vietnam last summer, and brought back some of the "Weasel Coffee." It was ok. I certainly wouldn't pay such high prices for it.
I had a hard time getting past the fact that the coffee that I was drinking had been taken from a pile of poo.
I think my brother-in-law has the rest of the bag of it, and won't touch it because of that reason.

Did the civet cat filter out the nasty, bitter aftertaste of coffee?

I think my avatar may have had something to do with your coffee. I will check with him and get back to you.

There really is none of that with Kopi Luwak. Smooth.
