    Re: Lots of football coverage

Anyone else notice the lack of media coverage coming out of EIU camp this spring? The media seems mildly disinterested at best. Most years by now they are spinning yarns of Hiesman Hopefulls and those "annual" January Bowl Games.

I really liked the Keeler article. It's a good read.

    Re: Lots of football coverage

Everything I read out of the Coach Chizik camp has the "real deal" taste and smell to it. It's not what people are saying, per se, it's the little things like the "Coach Sheppard is up until late hours" comments by bloggers, or the fact that Keeler is writing about a coaching "system" and Coach Chizik is bemoaning the fact that he is spending too much time as an administrator and is glad to get back to "coaching" during Spring Practice.

    Me likey. A lot.

    Re: Lots of football coverage

I am very excited for this football season but I hope we're not setting ourselves up for a big disappointment. What is everyone expecting for this year? Winning record? Bowl Game? Big 12 North champs? I'm just not sure what to expect.

I would be happy with a winning record. I think they should be able to pull more than a 3-9. I would say at least 7-5. But who knows. The players and coaches are starting to click more but that may not spell out super success quite yet. I want them to play good teams tough. No blowouts. I want to see visual improvements even if they dont end in wins. Last year when we battled OU hard, it brought a huge smile to my face. I want more smiles. We came close on a few games, now its time to get over that hump.

    Re: Lots of football coverage

I hope we'll be 6-6, but I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed with 5-7. If they go 7-5 or better I'll stop complaining about ticket prices. hehe.

Smarter plays. Fewer "WTF?" moments. More hustle. More teamwork. More scoring. Closer games. More games like the OU, KSU, and CU contests and fewer like the UT and KU games. Beat the Kent States, UNIs, and Toledos of the world. Stay competitive with the Hawks on their own turf. Scare the hell out of a few Big 12 teams, maybe even pull an upset (I think Missouri is our best bet). Closer games and better play may not translate to more wins, but the games will be better, the quality of play will be better, and I think we'll be pleasantly surprised at the end of the year.

I think we might still be a year away from going bowling. 5-7 seems most likely to me, and we may lose a couple games against good teams that, had we won, would have taken us to the postseason.

Edit: Let's also win at least one on the road. I don't care where.
