    Meyer vs. Arnaud

Alright, I've seen about enough of this. I've read it in spots here and on other boards.

"Arnaud is lighting it up in practice, put him in!"

First, the other untested option always looks better than the starter with a 3-5 record on the season.

And to the most important point, what QB can't light it up in practice against the secondary we're fielding. And...from the practices I watched, Arnaud would be facting 2nd and 3rd string DB's most of the time. If our 1st string guys get killed on Saturday, what do you think the 2nd and 3rd string guys look like?

People, Meyer is our QB without question. He should be. He has not played well, I know this. He's also had very little help from his line. Still, he should be playing better.

Regardless, he's better than Arnaud today and will likely be better than him in '07. Stop the madness.

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

It is also not worth burning a year of eligibility to appeal to people. He is not ready. Meyer barely was AFTER a redshirt year. Give him time, let him mature and he will be a very good QB for us!

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

Not to mention wasting Arnaud's redshirt for no benfit (read: Bowl eligibility)

If this move does for some crazy reason beyond injury transpire, I would take as a "last gasp" resort.

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

With the way Bret is playing this year, it is looking more and more like he will be our QB next year as well. So for people to say for Austin to be put in is just not smart.

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

I know I inquired about Arnaud simply for the reason of looking into the future. I know Meyer is currently a better option and it would be doing Arnaud a disservice putting him into the situation this year. I was wondering if perhaps he was a more vocal player and a better motivator that could be used in the future, especially now with Philip Bates' commitment in doubt. We already ruined a year of Juice Johnson's eligibility, no need to do the same with Arnaud.

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

If Meyer were to get hurt against KSU, I would let Van Winkle take the reins...let's not waste a year of eligibility on Arnaud for a wasted season.

Next year we should do the same thing with Arnaud as Missouri did with Daniels last year....seems to be paying off for them so far this year!

I hope Arnaud is lighting it up in practice. Have you seen our D-backs?

It's hard to imagine teams with less of a pass rush than us...

Let those teams go up against our O-line to pad their stats.

Last year Harrison Beck completed one pass and lost a year of eligibility. Oh well, too bad for North Carolina or wherever he transferred too.

    Re: Meyer vs. Arnaud

We are 83rd in scoring and 109th in defense. Sounds like a 100th place team. We thought we were good because we practiced against each other. And then we had to play the Games.

Bates' commitment is in doubt? Where is this info coming from?

    There was one?

I've been hearing rumors about it, but ONLY from Husker fans. Not a sniff about it from anyone Cyclone related.

Huskers are "reporting" it because of how poorly we are doing this year. I can only wonder what possible coaching change would do to the Bates commitment.
