    Offensive Line

This is one area that I've been able to pick out in the various free videos on cyclones.com. One immeduate impression is that Trey Baysinger is a very large young man. And fit, if not as sculpted as Tuba was at the combine.

Am I the only one who has noticed (and is extremely glad) that all of the beach balls the offensive line was carrying around a couple of years ago seem to have disappeared?

Agreed. Its great for our team in a lot of areas that we have a deep Oline. It helps our D prepare, it helps our QBs/RBs, and they help themselves. Very excited to see some of the walkons from last year.

Dont forget Lamaak and Doug D were 1st year D1 players last year and could make a big jump into year 2.

    Re: Offensive Line

This is one area that I'm very encouraged about. The rumor on this board was, 3 of our redshirts would have been starting by the end of last year. KO was reportedly an arse-kicker in practice last year.

Apparently, Alvarez might be getting reps at center.

    You're not alone. . . .

The videos showed some nice footwork, I thought (though I'm no expert), from our OLinemen. Persistence, too, sticking with their blocks. Feet dancing beneath them, strong legs and backs powering against the DLs. . . .

Again, I ain't no expert, but if I could select one area, and only one area, of a football team to stand above all other areas, I'd pick the offensive line. Protect the quarterback and give him time to select receivers, and run-block to create a consistent ground game.

Ball control, multi-play drives, keep the defense off the field, minimize the need for special teams to get into action. Yeah, the OLine is the one unit of the football team -- if I could select only one team unit -- I would pick to excel.

I sure hope we're not disappointed with the development of our OLine this fall. Improved OLine play might be the key to our season, more so than quarterback play, and so on.

Of course, the kicking game has got to improve; and the defense, particularly the pass rush. . . . no, no, I'm sticking with the OLine as the key. Anyone else agree? Or, am I crazy? (Maybe I'm crazy and correct?)

    Re: Offensive Line

Personally I would take defensive line first. Oline would be second, but definitely a close second.

In all seriousness, that is great news. Brandon J gave great energy, but he just doesn't have the physical tools. Alvarez looks to me that he would make a great center. Based on this and other news, my current oline depth chart looks like this:

    RT: Baysinger, Hulbert
    RG: KO, Blaes
    C: Alvarex, Johnson
    LG: Lamaak, Stephens
    LT: Dedrick, Klerkopper

    Re: Offensive Line

What, we might have an oline? That would surprise rest of the Big 12. Also, those Big Red fans give our team little credit even though they have not set the house on fire in their own state (ie. Big Red Firetruck). It would be nice to have an oline that handles the big Red defensive line which has been reworked.
