How long do we wait if a "change" will happen?

How long can ISU wait if in fact coaching changes will occur? Unv. of North Carolina announced that John Bunting will no longer be the head coach after this season. Seems like they want to get a jump on hiring the next guy. They have struggle since Mac left to go to Texas. The last thing we need is to wait too long and all the "good" candidates have moved on.

As much as many people want it to happen, I don't think Mac will be fired after this year...maybe after next year, but not this year.

I agree. They are going to give him one more year.

It would be hard to bring in a new coach in to face Texas, OU, and Iowa at home. If you add that to the cost of the buyout, I believe Dan gets one more year.

Better than playing them on the road.

Mac stays; but he might be forced to make some changes on his coaching staff.

Re: How long do we wait if a "change" will happen?

This was brought up in other posts, but if he is back for one more year, he will be seen as a "lame duck" coach.

This also goes for any new assistants brought in. I don't think anybody has any illusions that this program will be salvaged next year.

I completely agree herbicide. I don't think anyone believes that Mac is the coach of the future for ISU.

Re: How long do we wait if a "change" will happen?

I honestly do not think that we have recovered from Marty Fine's sponge lineman. We have a lot of the same mentality and no fire players. I believe that Cotton is not able to motivate this line and run the offense like he wants. I would like to see Cotton demoted to Offensive Line coach only and bring in an up and coming Offensive Coordinatory. Skldany is talented and deserves a bye considering how great his D was last year and all the lumps he had to take this year after losing Berryman and Robertson first and follow it up with Deandre and Smith being gone for portions of this year along with Carper going down. That was a slippery slope to climb. I am not going to debate facts on Mac, but believe he will be here regardless at least another year. Let's drop plans of bowling the end zone for now and get some extra money for a decent Offensive Coordinator and recruit the hell out of the JUCO ranks for some lineman with a spine.

Sorry, MAC has got to go at the end of the year. Extending this out for another season will do way more damage. There in nothing to debate with regards to MAC. He needs to go, period.

I thought the same way till late Saturday. Now what do you sell to, a "Lame Duck Coach". Football pays the bills at any D-I school, what would ticket sales be with a "Lame Duck". JP will have to Market with the "Mark Foley" marketing approach, damage control won't fill JTS or allow me to send a check.

For pete's sake, if Mac is not canned at the end of the year, PLEASE tell me that Cotton will be gone. He is an absolute disgrace.
