    Hiring to Mud

I am going to be looking in a month or two to hire someone to mud and texture drywall in two rooms which will total about 550 square foot. What do you think a ball park figure would be for what I would expect to pay someone to mud and texture it including them buying supplies? Just looking to see if it is in the range I figured or not. Thanks!

It may be just as cheap for them to also put up the drywall if they are hotrods.

    Re: Hiring to Mud

I'm hoping not because I've been busting hump for the last few weeks working at night hanging drywall.

    Re: Hiring to Mud

Do yourself a favor and learn to do the mudding and taping. I've hired someone 3 or 4 times and have yet to get a satisfactory job. Different contractor each time. Next time, I'm going to bite the bullet and do it myself.

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

Try Backes and Schaefer (sp. schaeffer??) plastering. They are out of the Waterloo area and do a really nice job at drywall and texturing of ceilings and walls.

    Re: Hiring to Mud

On a mission trip a couple years ago, I taught a group of high school girls how to mud and tape drywall. Took about four hours, and they were doing a great job after that. Only took me an hour to clean up their early "oopsies!"
