The absolute worst thing about today's game...

Tech committed 14 penalties for 128 yards and muffed two punts.

And we still were never really in that football game.

Tech tried to give us a gift and we frequently rejected it.

    Pathetic....

I think the absolute worst thing about today's game was.... everything.

(not include the band of course :) )

Agreed.....Tech attempted to gift wrap this one for ISU and the offensive offense decided not to take it.

I mean, how many personal fouls did Tech have? I can remember at least 3 right off-hand.

And their penalties always came at the worst times. Yet we rarely capitolized.

I just don't know what to thing of this team and staff right now. We're not playing hard, scrappy Cyclone football.

There is something worse than all that. Coach Mac and staff still have jobs.

I say it every time Cyclone football (or lack thereof, rather) comes up:

Barney Cotton will not just be fired at the end of the season, he is going to be absolutely sacrificed. They are going to make an example of him.

I can't help but wonder what he was calling that made *Meyer* constantly leave the pocket only to wander frantically and aimlessly around the backfield before getting sacked a big loss. 9 times out of 10, he didn't even try and get rid of the ball, much less pass the thing.

I certainly don't think that *Meyer* is blameless in these situations, but I definitely don't think he's alone in this absurdity, either.

EDIT: I am stupid when I am tired. Thank God Blythe isn't our quarterback, we'd probably be in trouble.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

You mean Meyer...right? Blythe is never in the pocket.

Wait...there's a thought...maybe he should be. That's one way to get him the ball!

Did you see the attempted screen pass to Blythe? What the hell was that all about?! Blythe needs time and open field to be effective, he's not quick enough to be dumping the ball off to at the line of scrimmage.

We sit in Section 2 (NW Corner) so the band is right beneath us. You guys were into it all day long. Great job!

Kudos to the alumni band, cheerleaders and baton twirlers (even the chubby one)! One of the baton twirlers suffered a horrible injury (knee, leg, something that caused her to be carried off) last homecoming, but she was back out there today. I wish our team would show her toughness.

I thought the worst thing about today's game was when Mac elected to punt with 5 minutes left and ISU trailing by two scores (9 points). He was basically saying, "it's over" and the fans responded with a mass exodus. Sad!

I meant to ask this earlier -- does the band appreciate the guy in the student section doing the First Down cheer with his plastic trumpet? We all get a kick out of it, and you guys are too far away to see if you're smiling or frowning.

I like the idea. At the pep rally last night, Meyer basically told the band to not play when they are on offense on that side of the field because they cannot communicate the plays in the huddle very effectively (he noted the Oklahoma game as an example). We still want to yell "Go Cyclones, Go Cyclones, Go Cyclones, I-S-U" to keep the fans into it and I don't think it hurts the offense because the louder band is not playing. Plus I think it's funny!

Loud or not...who cares??? If the band is LOUD, we don't score, & if the band doesn't pay, we don't score!!!

Re: The absolute worst thing about today's game...

Yeah. Tech was giving us the game, yet we couldn't do anything.

Oh and, what was the deal with Flynn?! I didn't see him at all during the first half (I didn't get in the stadium until right after Tech's first TD), then I saw him in the second half hold the PAT for Culbertson, and I saw him walk out with the captains at the beginning of the second half. His ankle didn't look to be bothering him.

Yes, we LOVE it! At first we thought it was just funny, but then we started realizing how often we weren't going to be allowed to play First Down, and this guy is filling in the gap nicely. It's very recognizable because it's so unique (which makes the students pay attention) and it's helping the students learn the cheers, which has never happened before. Thanks partially to him, the whole student section is cheering even when the band does get to play First Down. We think it's awesome. Over the last few games, nearly the whole band has gotten the feel of when we will or won't play First Down, and we just automatically look toward the stands and wait for it.

That was absolutely pathetic, and made me lose some respect for him. He's a captain of our football team, getting his chance to speak and get people fired up, and he chooses to use his time to rip on the band? If we'd been charging the field in the middle of plays or something, I could understand it, but the refs called ONE false start on us six weeks ago. Let it go, guys- you've done far worse than that for the last month.

What really ****** me off was that the stupid emcess took Meyer's comments and ran with them, blaming the band for stuff, culminating in this gem:

"Come on, band! Oklahoma was a LOCK until you guys started playing!"

Whoa, what? Oklahoma? Wait a minute, we weren't even at the game! What part of that sentence isn't funny? After that, I can only shake my head and marvel at the frantic grasps our football team has to blame crappy on play on anything or everything besides themselves.

Boys, if you think you're losing games because the band is there, I pity you. You've got a thousand things to do right before you can start ripping on us. But we'll be there supporting you to the end, even if you biff every chance, because that's the kind of people we are- we like you, and want you to play well. Now, apparently, you don't feel the same way, but that's okay, because we are true fans and supporters and- dare I say it?- members of this athletic department, and we'll always be there to cheer you on. Good luck!

I agree, the band is always working hard and is an important part of maintaining a fun game atmosphere and halftime. Try to ignore people who don't appreciate your efforts. Everyone in our section loves the band and their contributions to keep energy high during the game.
