    Offensive Line

How is it we have a senior laden offensive line, and yet allow 5 sacks in what seems to be a regular occurence?? This is all about coaching & recruiting. Our O-line looked absolutely horrible, not that the rest of the team didn't.

Also, the whole "Bend don't break strategy, is a sham!" It may work every once in a while against teams with inferior talent, but has it ever worked for us and allowed us to have an upset?

Dan will not go this year, but the rest of his staff should.

    Re: Offensive Line

Guess they do not care enough about their qb....

Nobody is pushing the 5 lunk of chunk oline players, not even Scott Senior Fisher per McC comment earlier this week. Thas is shocking. That is poor planning. That is just a big shame. What good is a great qb if you cannot block?

    Re: Offensive Line

This O-line is unbelievable. How could it have become so bad after losing just one (average) senior in one year??? I really can't understand what is going on. Barney's supposed to be this firey Marine-like coach, but he can't get these guys to toughen up and do their jobs?? I'm at a loss...

Last year our O-line sucked @ss as well, we just didn't play as many good teams as we have thus far.

    Re: Offensive Line

Their mother must tuck them into bed when they were young...I do not know. Last year Stevie Hicks rushed for 135 yards. Wha' Happened? We cannot run because we are too weak in the oline.

The front four of opponents can take on our front five and beat us.

Bret Meyer is now gunshy. I do not blame him.

    Re: Offensive Line

Let's not coddle Meyer folks, he's as much to blame for the offensive woes as the rest of the bunch. Granted he could use some more time but today he locked onto receivers several times and it did not fool the TT defense. He also doesn't see the field well or make quick decisions when scrambling. If you don't have a play throw it away instead of trying to make something happen and getting hit for a loss.

I'm disappointed in the o-line too. They lack a tough/mean edge too them.

    Re: Offensive Line

They are pathetic. They will be worse next year. The thing is they will probably start seniors again next year in Tibbs, Schober, and Tjaden. I say they throw some young bucks in there and see what happens. Stephens and Schmeling will be average to below average guards next year. And judging by our o-line recruiting, we aren't even aggresively recruiting anybody worth a damn.

No one in practive is pushing the big 5 oline fellows. Fire the oline coach?

    Has Jim walden returned incognito?

    Re: Offensive Line

Is Cotton our O-line coach also or is he strictly just responsible for the shotty play calling?

    Re: Offensive Line

Personally, I think 5 anorexic high school girls could do a better job blocking up front then ISU's Oline. How could any of those guys live with themselves? HONESTLY! They couldn't block a tortise from getting into the water. I'll bet if somebody walked up to Meyer and asked him if he'd rather have the same Oline block for him next week or be taken into a dark alley and have the tar kicked out of him he'd take the butt whoopin! At this rate if you ever going to want to see Bret Meyer again your going to have to visit him at Mercy Hospital because he will be on his death bead because the oline is killing him!

    Re: Offensive Line

Barney is responsible for Oline and OCoordinator. Remember folks that When NU fired their coordinators and Barney was hired, their offensive performance actually decreased under Barney's leadership

    Re: Offensive Line

I now believe that Barney is a problem. The nebraska offensive line was big and weak under Solich. Pancake blocks disappeared.
Why Nebraska is so much better this year is they roughened their practices because they have more depth to beat up aginst in practice. And it shows. We have let our team go downhill on leadership and toughness. Our captains are not on the field too much to kick butt in the huddle. Too bad. It shows.
