Looking Back At The Texas Tech Game

A few thoughts about the game today. I was there and observed a few things.

We are very lucky the score was that close. Texas Tech had three punt return errors and a ton (A TON) of penalties. Take away those turnovers and cut the penalties and half and Tech may have been close to hanging 60 on us.

Where is the creativity on defense? No wonder Harrell goes 30-39 for 365 when we are in the standard 4-3 all game long. There was very little (if any) blitzing beyond the down 4 and there is never an extra cornerback out there (I don't care about depth, you can't cover Tech's receivers with linebackers). And it is time to get Caleb Berg off the field. He got beat bad on a couple long gains. Give someone else a shot.

The offense looked like it showed up today, but the results of 221 total yards say otherwise, once again, without the short field to work with, we get smoked in this game. But there were once again some questionable calls and the offensive line, at points looked good but at most times looked average at best. And then there is Meyer. It seemed like he was over anxious to leave the safety of the pocket even when there was adequate protection. Meyer played very poorly going 14-34 for 149 yards.

On the positive side there was the special teams. You don't have to wonder why we started cheering the punting team on the field after 3 consecutive punts ended in fumble, fumble, and roughing the kicker. Plus there was Culbertson's 52 yard field goal that was easy good even with the wind.

    That's my thoughts.

Promote the Special Teams coach to head coach for rest of season. The offense is pathetic. The defense is close behind.

McC postgame: "We have to be sounder in coverages, have more rush on defense, offense has to be more consistent on third down.
We have to make plays on third down. Need to keep heads up and go on road to get a great victory next week."

KSU will be favored at Mahattan on the betting line.

Looks like we will have to beat Missouri to get to Shreveport.

I think we should just have a monkey playing NCAA 2006 call our plays for us. That or ask Corso...

I think we gave up three very long TD passes today. Were they all against the same DB?

Re: Looking Back At The Texas Tech Game

My biggest coaching gripe of the game: We have at least two possessions inside the 10 where Blythe doesn't get a chance at the ball, and often wasn't even on the field. For the love of ******, Allah, Budda, Krishna, Xenu and all things holy, why do you not have him on the field in that situation? No excuse.

Did you notice, not one word about the pathetic line play (both sides)??? How long will Mac go without mentioning the pink elephant in the corner of the room?

If this season ends like we think it might (3-9 or 4-8), Cotton must be the sacrificial lamb if Mac is retained. Something needs to change...

Hey, we are Americas 100th best team. Are we in the right conference?

Where are the team leaders? Where are the team leaders? Just where are they?

The only one I see with any fire is Todd Blythe, and we don't throw to him, and take him off the field near the red zone.

Need to be nasty on the field. We are SOFT. Where is the attitude. Where is the gumption? Where is the leadership? Where is the hustle? Where is the fear to lose? Where is the ownership? Where is the pride? Do they laugh at McC behind his back?
