    Cheering Conflict

There are teams I pick to win in my bracket, but can't stand. Sometimes I find it hard to cheer based on my feelings on a team when I have money and such tied up in a bracket.

Tonight I was however cheering really hard for Belmont to pull it out. It would have been the first #15 seed beating a #2 seed since ISU got beat by the H word.

    thoughts?

That's one of the reasons i never pick anybody in the big ten to make it out of the first round... The other reason being that the big ten really does suck...

I was cheering for Duke to lose tonight, just so it would shut Duke lovers that dominate the college BB meida up.

So . . . You picked teams like Ohio State and Illinois in recent years to lose in the first round?

Maybe I gave them til the second round in years like that... but you get my point... Kinda the same thing goes for drafting players for fantasy football, im not gonna draft players early that i cant stand cheering for (TO)

This strategy will not get you into the winners circle in office pools.

    Re: Cheering Conflict

When I'm sitting on my couch watching the games, I always cheer for who feels right at the moment. I never root for one team over another based on who I picked in my bracket. It's only a few dollars that I never anticipate on seeing again. The bracket will work itself out, and if I win a few dollars I just consider that gravey.

Like last night, I picked Wisconsin in my bracket but I would have loved to have seen Cal Fullerton win. It just would have been great to see Wisky and their imposing front line get beat by a bunch of 6'5 guys.

OK, so I gotta ask. Why the hatred towards Duke? (other than Christian Laettner). What is it about them that makes people hate them so much? Is the the fact that Coach K runs a clean program? The fact that you have to be intelligent to get into Duke? The fact that Coach K turned down the ISU job to go to Duke? The number of former Blue Devils that are in the NBA?

    Re: Cheering Conflict

It's just like when you play fantasy sports, you may hate a player but you can't let that affect how you play. For instance I hate Terrell Owens but he was the best player on the board when I picked him. He was probably my best player by the end of the season too sadly. I also can't stand A-Rod but I had the 1st pick in the draft and you'd be stupid not to draft him.

I was rooting for that upset too, would have been nice to get that H-word monkey off our back and onto Duke's. Afterall brackets and fantasy sports are just a game, you still root for the upsets and you still cheer for your teams regardless.

For me it is the people who feel the need to point out various reasons why Duke is a great school and program.

For me, it's the fact that I'm a huge Tar Heels fan and hating Duke is part of the life.

    Re: Cheering Conflict

Two reasons to hate Duke. Dick Vitale and his ESPN cohorts absolutely go ga ga over Duke and Coach K . It's disgusting! And America with few exceptions roots for the underdog, which is hardly ever Duke. I much prefer Coach K over his nemesis in North Carolina. Ol' Roy and his whine is just too much.
