Just terrible - no wonder we lost since defense gave up 90 more yards that the offense lost.

Points are looking dismal and we are losing the yardage battle.

In total, 2003 was our worst season in last five and so far, 2006 is next worst with 2005 being the best year due to turnovers(in the last five years) and from point/yardage standpoint.

If our defense could reduce game average 30 yards and the offense up theirs 30 yards, we could be doing much better.

In 2004 and 2005, we outrushed the other team. Only in 2002 with Seneca did we outpass the other team.

Re: Points/Yardage do tell the story over 5 years

Last year we had 22 interceptions. This year we have 4 so far. Three years we averaged 3.2 yards a rush, best year was 3.7 yards per rush, and last year was 2.7 yards per rush. The other team average was always better than our average. Playcalling? After some tough years, Bret has a better average per pass than the opponents the last three years, just like Seneca in 2002. Looks like we have excelled better at passing than rushing since 2002.

And the oline/dline was having big problems in 2003, when we played Texas and Oklahoma at home. Looks like when Seneca graduated, we were exposed to the better teams.

Re: Points/Yardage do tell the story over 5 years

Looks like the average per rush by opponent has from 3.0 yards per rush in 06 to 4.3 yards in 06 and passing yards per attempt has only increased from 6.5 to 7.1 yards. That gives the other side 60 more yards a game, enough to swing the battle.

Our offense is off 17 yards a game from last year and our defense is off 34 yards.

Look how many plays we ran in 2002 with Seneca versus the following four years. Quite a dropoff.

From these stats, Bret does compare favorably with Seneca Wallace last season: similar in yards per catch and fewer interceptions for a year, and number of yards per game.

Re: Points/Yardage do tell the story over 5 years

I think it's real easy to rip the defense, but remember they're young. Everyone knew the d would give up a lot, and for the most part, I feel the d has done more than it should have done in keeping isu in games. the o really has to step it up the restof the season
