    2009 Prospects

The initial 2009 top 250 came out and we are in on some serious talent! I am not saying that we are going to land them but it is nice to see some of the big names listing ISU. Here is the list of players that CR has us actively recruiting and where they rank in the top 250.

    Dyron Dye- 137
    Nick Kasa- 83
    Craig Roh- 154
    Austin Moss- 200
    Gabe Lynn- 35
    Andre Debose- 106

If Chizik can show some improvement this year he could have a lot to sell with his credentials at Texas and Auburn and playing time to go along with it. Also to put some of these rankings into perspective with how exciting it would be to land one of these guys, Sed Johnson was ranked 235 and a lot of fans were amazed when we landed him! I can't wait for football!!

I love to see us going after such good talent. Like you said, hopefully we'll pull off 6 or 7 wins to give them a taste of the turnaround.

    Re: 2009 Prospects

I know it's way to early to be getting even a little excited about this stuff but it's great to see ISU recruiting some big time talent. When was the last time ISU went after this much talent this highly touted? Does anybody know?

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

All of them are defensive players I don't want to look up which were which but I know that 3 of them were ends. Debose may end up being an offensive recruit, he was listed as an athlete!

It doens't seem we have much of a chance with Kasa. I think he will want to play at an elite college.

I think all schools go after this level of talent this early in the recruiting season. It's not uncommon. What matters is if we can make the cut when these kids start trimming their lists. If we're still in on most or all of them this fall, then I'll be excited.

Agreed. What would be really exciting is if we stay on with these guys as the year rolls on. It sounds like a common theme with these guys that they don't know a lot about ISU and would like to make a trip to find out more. That is pretty encouraging vs. getting blown off right off the bat. My guess is that Moss would be the most likely, if any, to choose ISU. We've been on him for a while. As for the others, just take a look at ISU and see what GC and staff have to offer. That is all I ask.

    Re: 2009 Prospects

Putting some more Cyclones in the NFL will really help. Chizik and staff can take a lot of credit for helping Rubin get to where he is. (he also works very hard and the previous staff changed his position.) If 3 guys get in from a 3-9 football team, that would help out recruiting I think.

    Re: 2009 Prospects

2009 is a long ways off, and obviously a lot of those schools were competing with will have the eye catching appeal - but, what we have is Adrin.....I don't think this can be underestimated.....If he makes it in, i think we will be in the mix for the Sanford Three.....Ray Ray, Andre and Dyron......If we get any of them it will be awesome.....I'm banking on our staff telling themselves they will be this years Kansas and Missouri as far as improvement not quantity of wins, but, improvement with a young team is exciting and that is automatic recruiting!!!! They're banking on it by recruiting top level talent - even if they don't get them. To be after this level of player, and make their cuts will tell you a lot about where our direction is headed!!!!!

To me, Kasa is a no-brainer to CU.....i think hawk is all over this kid now for two years....if he dont commit to CU, i will be more surprised then anyone....

I'm guessing we have a real decent shot at Dye, if adrin makes it in....They're both big guys, probably hung out, and could relate to one another - but, he has a lot of big time offers but being able to coach for a Defensive Guru like Chizik cannot hurt....Not to mention potential to start as a true freshmen....he wont start at Florida or Florida St....

I think if Texas or A&M don't gobble up Moss, which i think they will, we will have a great shot at him. In retrospect, Texas already has three lb's committed for 2009 and a&m is recruiting the OL bigtime 4 recruits.....so a&m would be a strong favorite at this time for his services....But, don't underestimate the power that Chizik's name still has in Texas, he brought them an elusive title and the defense although it got torched by USC played well all season to get them into that position.....

I think Dubose is a miami man.

    Lynn will be a sooner.

IMO Roh will stay in state as well and play at ASU.

This is okay, i think Chizik is targeting a few more highly rated recruits but you will see a bunch of three star commits come fall and spring 09......I think if we sign 2 - 4* recruits and a good group of 3 * talent, our staff would be delighted.....

Sorry, but i think all these are long shots......
