    DM Register online

Does anyone here read the DM Rag online on a regular basis? it seems over the last couple months, it has turned into more of a social forum than news source on the front page, every morning I go to see whats up back in Iowa and there are usually pics front and center under the rotating headline player of some 20-something women sitting at some bar smiling for the camera... is this an attempt to make Des Moines appear more hip or trendy? I don't mind this sort of thing but cripes put it off to the side, it just seems unprofessional when you pop open the website of the state's largest paper and see snapshots of the previous nights bar crowd... well, maybe it's all a part of stopping the ooz of brain drain from Iowa..."ooh, look, there are hotties at a bar in Des Moines, I think I'll stay in Iowa now!"

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I just checked out the link and saw the pictures of the said "hotties." I am pretty sure those gems are not keeping anybody from high tailing it out of state.

Newspapers are going the way of the dodo bird. The rag will do whatever it takes to maximize its hits as it should.

I read the rss feeds via google reader. I can't stand their new website, and I only go there when I find an article I really want to read.

I'm not saying those chicks were hot, just throwing a hypothetical out there... I will say, there was a decent looking brunette on yesterdays random bar picture on the front page....

I agree 100%. News reporting is pathetic these days. I wouldn't be surprised to see ISU journalism classes soon taught by Joan Crawford and Kathy Griffin.

I look at the Rag most everyday on line, living in the West and traveling every week I like to see how bad the weather is in Iowa. I also like to see how slanted the Cyclone coverage is.

    Re: DM Register online

I quit reading the online edition of the DMR when I realized I was spending a fortune on computer monitors. My bird kept crapping all over them, and it didn't wrap a fish worth a darn!

    Badum bum!

Buy fish sticks. They don't need wrapped, they're in their own box

In Soviet Russia, computers take you to the bathroom.

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

    Re: DM Register online

Curiosity won me over and I checked out the Register today. Sadly, it only confirmed my previously established position: the Register sucks. They seem content with poorly done, slanted reporting almost completely lacking significant sources. Then, to top it off, I checked out the blogs of a collection of 20-somethings linked on the home page. Scary. If you can get past the grammatical errors and creative spellings, you are in for an intellectual vacuum masquerading as serious opinion.
